Miami University Hybrid Master Degree Biology - Sacricolist - 09-04-2018

Masters degree in Biology. This is not really an online degree program. However, Miami University (Ohio) has a hybrid program that combines web based classes with practical experiences at selected zoos. The program is offered as either a MAT in Biological Sciences or a MA in Biology (the student decides which degree but the curriculum is exactly the same). The program focuses on zoology, animal behavior, conservation. The departmental website: https://aip.projectdragonfly.org/ The program seems inexpensive and has sort of a cool factor with the hands-on being at the participating zoos. The program also offers the chance to travel internationally. Program length 2.5 years, cost year 1 ~ $5100.00

This degree only requires one previous general introductory biology course, as part of the admissions requirements. The GRE is not required for admission. Application deadline is Feb 28th every year, classes begin in the summer.

This sounds truly amazing. Definitely something I am interested in. Thank you for sharing. My only concern is the GPA requirement that states any courses taken after completion of an undergraduate degree does not count.

Has anyone applied to this program that can provide insight?

Why is that a problem? I'm confused.

The GPA you have at graduation is the GPA you have.  Nothing much else to say.  Most schools won't list additional courses on your transcript after you graduate anyway, so I don't see the issue.

If you want to increase your GPA, do it before you graduate.

Most graduate schools provide some sort of provisional or conditional admission if the applicant’s GPA does not meet the standard requirements. If you are concerned check with Miami University’s Graduate Admissions Office.
