New CLEP - Electraax3 - 08-30-2018

Has anyone passed the sociology one? I used IC and didn’t pass by two points. I am planning on taking psychology and American history 2. What would you guys recommend?

RE: New CLEP - MNomadic - 08-30-2018

I used Modern States followed by crash course followed by REA study guide to pass psyche and sociology

RE: New CLEP - quigongene - 08-30-2018

I only needed the Crash Course for Sociology. I kind of half assed my way through MS to get the voucher.

Aw, man. I thought College Board came out with a new CLEP and got all excited. Tongue

RE: New CLEP - clep3705 - 08-30-2018

Sorry! Didn’t mean to confuse anyone

RE: New CLEP - Maniac Craniac - 08-31-2018

When I took the Sociology CLEP, I used a textbook I borrowed from the library. I got a 79 on it.

The most important part, for me, was memorizing the glossary. Not a lot of fun, I'll admit, but most of the questions on the CLEP were incredibly easy, once I could understand what the questions were even referring to, and that required knowing what the terminology meant.

You may have noticed when studying that Sociology doesn't usually introduce words that you've never seen before, only, it uses them in a way you might not have ever seen them been used before. Memorize the glossary and you're most of the way there.

Oh, also, for both Sociology and Psychology, I would highly recommend taking your time and reviewing the exams multiple times. Use all the time they give you! Both tests come down to correctly understanding what the questions and options mean. They're kind of like a high school ELA test in that they try to trick you with the wording, so read carefully!

Passed it with a 66 this morning. I used Modern States (mostly for the voucher), Crash Course and the Free-CLEP-Prep Quick Study Guide. I didn't spend much time on memorizing terminology, because I've never really seen that be important on a CLEP but I wish in hindsight I would have because terminology came up a lot on the test
