TESU MULTPLE DEGREES - docmarvin - 06-21-2018 Is it possible to have a multiple degrees that you can work on at the same time? I've seen some signatures where they are working on both two Associate and one Bachelor. Can I work on the following: - AA - ASNSM Math - ASNSM Biology - BS HST And apply for graduation with all of these degrees at the same time once completed? I know there will be extra work, but I am not rushing. I just wanna make sure that either I meet the requirements for the 24 credits (military) / pay residency waiver fee. RE: TESU MULTPLE DEGREES - MNomadic - 06-21-2018 Yes you can do multiple degrees at once but tesu will only let you receive 2 associates and 2 bachelors total. So I would drop the AA. RE: TESU MULTPLE DEGREES - bjcheung77 - 06-21-2018 Doc, You have too many on the list. Remove the AA and your list is complete! The max you can have is two of each, that's two associates and two bachelors. BTW, why Bio and Math, why not Comp Sci and Math? Biology requires Bio II Lab. For multiple degrees at the same time, do you have to pay the residency waiver for each one? RE: TESU MULTPLE DEGREES - jsh1138 - 06-22-2018 yes, you can work on as many as you want to. getting the degrees at the end of it is the problem COSC told me recently that you can't get a double major from them if you already have more than 90 credits, for instance. each school has its own rules, and most of them limit you on how many degrees total they will give you. be sure you plan it out before you get too deep into it RE: TESU MULTPLE DEGREES - bjcheung77 - 06-22-2018 (06-22-2018, 07:52 AM)Tripletmom Wrote:(06-21-2018, 10:39 PM)bjcheung77 Wrote: Doc, You have too many on the list. Remove the AA and your list is complete! No, if you complete the Associates degree(s) and apply for graduation at the same time of the Bachelors, it's just one fee. I tell people to complete all requirements of the Associates, and wait until their Bachelors is done, then graduate at the same time. That'll be 1 grad fee, 1 residency waiver fee, and 1 Bachelor's Capstone course (only course you should take at TESU). For those who want to get the Associates degree(s) before their Bachelors, they can do so. It'll just be an extra graduation fee. This is only recommended if people really need an Associates and don't mind forking out that $332 graduation fee. The residency waiver lasts one year, if they can finish the Bachelors before that time, they won't need to pay. RE: TESU MULTPLE DEGREES - sanantone - 06-22-2018 I thought you couldn't work on two associate's degrees at once. You can double major. Well, I never heard of anyone double majoring at the associate's level, but I know it's possible at the baccalaureate level. If you graduate with the associate's first, then you will need to meet the new credit requirements for the bachelor's. RE: TESU MULTPLE DEGREES - MNomadic - 06-22-2018 "Students who desire to have two Thomas Edison State University associate degrees awarded in the same graduation cycle may do so providing 12 credits are different in the second degree's option." That's from the TESU site so I assume that can be done at the same time as a bachelor's as well. You can earn a bachelor's and associate's at the same time. Two bachelor's degrees at the same time requires double majoring, which really makes it one bachelor's degree. I guess since you can't double major at the associate's level, they let you earn two at the same time. RE: TESU MULTPLE DEGREES - MNomadic - 06-22-2018 Here it states you can receive 2 simultaneous bachelor's as long as 24 credits don't overlap. https://www.tesu.edu/academics/catalog/award-of-degrees And here is where it says you can have 2 areas of study within 1 degree(like a double major) https://blog-tesu-edu.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/blog.tesu.edu/the-secret-to-earning-a-second-degree?amp_js_v=a2&_gsa=1&hs_amp=true&usqp=mq331AQECAE4AQ%3D%3D#referrer=https://www.google.com&_tf=From%20%251%24s&share=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.tesu.edu%2Fthe-secret-to-earning-a-second-degree |
