Easy TESU Class...need help - omuneek - 06-19-2018 I am enrolled for 4 credit hours at TESU - Capstone and Cornerstone, which equates to exactly 6 hours/half-time as far as the GI BIll is concerned. I just learned that the Post 9/11 GI Bill does not pay a monthly stipend for half-time enrollment. I need to take just one more class to receive close to $800/month for approximately 3 months, which would help with my graduation fees. A 1-hour course would suffice to meet the minimum requirement. Can anyone suggest an "easy" TESU course that I could take along with the Capstone? ![]() TESU BALS: (Capstone July 2018) TESU ASNSM: (Cornerstone July 2018) Military: Retired RE: Easy TESU Class...need help - MNomadic - 06-19-2018 Do you know if TECEPS would count for the purposes of post 9/11 gibill? There are certainly a few there I think. RE: Easy TESU Class...need help - dfrecore - 06-19-2018 Isn't the cornerstone a 1cr course? I took it and it was. So you'd only be at 4cr right now. He is but the way GI bills calculate full time is funny because because of the 12 week terms. "The VA calculates the amount of monetary entitlement based on the amount of credits taken during a standard semester, defined by the VA as 15-18 weeks in length. Standard semester calculation (15-18 weeks): 3 credits per semester is less than half-time 6 credits per semester is half-time 7 credits per semester is more than half-time 12 credits per semester is full-time Undergraduate semesters at Thomas Edison State University run 12 weeks: shorter than a standard semester. Therefore, the following formula can be used to determine the entitlement eligibility for courses taken at TESU: 18 x the number of credits taken, divided by the length of the semester, measured in weeks." So 18 x (# of credits) divided by 12 translates to: 1.5 x (# of credits) has to be equal to or greater than 12. My understanding is that to be considered full time by the VA for the purposes of the post 9/11 GI Bill(and receive 1/2 the national average BAH or ~$800 monthly)you would have to do 8 credits in a 12 week term. However, I believe if you are taking classes at half time, you should still be eligible for half of that.
