What's up with the Principles of Finance DSST? - studyandpass5 - 06-04-2018 I was thinking about taking the DSST Principles of Finance, starting this week, but am very confused. The official DSST study guide does not include it. It's not listed on the Peterson's website. And there's not many resources out there. What's up?? Has this test not been renewed with ACE or something? I thought for sure that the official book would have it, but they only have Personal Finance. Did they mesh the two tests together? Should I stick with the Study.com course? RE: What's up with the Principles of Finance DSST? - alexf.1990 - 06-04-2018 It's still available and separate from the Personal Finance DSST. You can use this link to search for ACE courses. http://www2.acenet.edu/credit/?fuseaction=search.main It looks like this test was just reworked in 2017. That might be why there isn't alot of information out there on it. The thread for that test on the Exam Specific board has alot of information for that test. RE: What's up with the Principles of Finance DSST? - dfrecore - 06-04-2018 For whatever reason, the folks at DSST didn't ever come up with a single Official Guide like CLEP has every year that covers every exam - including a breakdown of what's on the tests, and practice tests for each one. Peterson's has Volumes 1 & 2 of Mastering the DSST books, with each covering 12 exams - so 24 out of 36 exams are covered. What. The. Hell. They also have online practice tests for 21 of the courses. Again, WTH!? Your best bet for a DSST not covered in one of the books is to use the Study guide and buy a textbook that covers all of the info. OR, do Study.com or Davar if you go to one of the Big 3. RE: What's up with the Principles of Finance DSST? - Yenisei - 06-04-2018 This might be one that is best taken with Study.com if you are already taking courses with them. RE: What's up with the Principles of Finance DSST? - Johmford - 06-05-2018 I studied the money and banking dsst using IC and passed, might be an alternative?? RE: What's up with the Principles of Finance DSST? - Yenisei - 06-05-2018 Having taken both Principles of Finance and Money & Banking, I think the latter is easier to pass (and the military DSST pass rates indicate this) and I'd advise someone to take study.com's Finance course instead of the DSST exam, but, yeah, IC may be enough to get you through. RE: What's up with the Principles of Finance DSST? - studyandpass5 - 06-05-2018 Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'll go with the study.com course. I wonder why DSST doesn't include the other tests in their study guides? |
