American Literature - Study.com vs Shmoop? - jason@thebfl.net - 05-22-2018 HI All, Anyone have any input on the difference between taking American Literature via Study.com vs. Shmoop? The big turn off for Study.com for me is the two essays that need to be written as part of the final project. They also indicate that there are 11 books you need to read... yikes ![]() I've taken several other classes at Study.com, so I am familiar with the routine there. But I have no experience at Shmoop, so any insight there would be appreciated. Reasoning and English Composition 2). Shmoop won't work at TESU anymore if that's the school you're interested in, but if it's quality you're looking for, I'd go with Study.com, hands-down. RE: American Literature - Study.com vs Shmoop? - Yenisei - 05-22-2018 I would recommend taking the CLEP American Literature instead. RE: American Literature - Study.com vs Shmoop? - dfrecore - 05-23-2018 The CLEP for Am Lit is 6cr (so Am Lit I & II), and no essays to write. If you use ModernStates.org to prep for it, they will give you a voucher to take the exam for free, as well as reimburse you for the testing center fees. (you may need additional study materials) RE: American Literature - Study.com vs Shmoop? - jason@thebfl.net - 05-23-2018 Thank you for the advice. So there are no essays on the CLEP then, that is great. I'm familiar with CLEP testing, as I've used it for Principles of Management and Microeconomics. I would actually be transferring in to the New England College of Business (NECB). I will checkout modernstares.org as well. That's good that they help you with the CLEP test fees. As for Shmoop, it is hard to tell from their syllabus, but do they require essays? Just trying to make sure I have all of the facts before deciding one direction or the other. BUT, you should check with your college to see if they will accept Shmoop, Study.com, or CLEP. Many colleges will take CLEP that won't take the others (ACE/NCCRS). RE: American Literature - Study.com vs Shmoop? - MSK9 - 05-23-2018 Shmoop is multiple choice test only; no proctoring, no essays. RE: American Literature - Study.com vs Shmoop? - jason@thebfl.net - 05-23-2018 Great feedback, and thank you all for your posts. This information is very helpful. |
