TESU Cornerstone - cheapest way to satisfy requirement? - Silly_Me - 04-14-2018 Hey, guys! TESU insists that I'll do better opting for the military degree completion program over the Study.com affiliation - even though I'll end up having to pay the in-state residency waiver of $2200 because I don't intend to earn enough credits at TESU to waive it. So, they need me to complete the cornerstone course - a $250 fee at TESU. Is there a cheaper alternative that will satisfy the 1-credit cornerstone requirement? Thanks!!! RE: TESU Cornerstone - cheapest way to satisfy requirement? - leland.kirk - 04-14-2018 Unfortunately the cornerstone can't be transferred in. It doesn't sound better than the current Study.com affiliate pricing. Which is $1800 for the residency waiver, $1100 for the capstone, and the cornerstone is completely waived RE: TESU Cornerstone - cheapest way to satisfy requirement? - jsd - 04-14-2018 The military program still allows TECEPs to count towards residency, doesn't it (while requiring more residency credits, however)? You might want to run the math on that and see if doing the required TECEPs, plus corner- and capstone comes out to. RE: TESU Cornerstone - cheapest way to satisfy requirement? - Ideas - 04-14-2018 If you were going to skip the military program, would you pay the residency waiver by end of June? Would you pay for the capstone by end of June? RE: TESU Cornerstone - cheapest way to satisfy requirement? - Silly_Me - 04-14-2018 @jsd - Yes, they still allow TECEPs to count towards residency, but I have no desire to take all those tests. So, I'm going to pay a residency waiver fee either way I go. @Ideas - I probably won't be ready for another year, so I doubt I'll pay any of my fees by June of this year. Is something changing? And, according to my math, I do believe I'd come ahead with the Study.com affiliation pricing. (I don't know why the advisors are so reluctant to opt me out of the military degree completion program.) Study.com: $1800 residency waiver + 0 cornerstone + $1100 capstone = $2900 Military Degree Completion: $2200 residency waiver + $250 cornerstone + $750 capstone = $3200 RE: TESU Cornerstone - cheapest way to satisfy requirement? - Johmford - 04-14-2018 If you transfer in 104 credits I think it’s waived. I remember reading something to that effect RE: TESU Cornerstone - cheapest way to satisfy requirement? - dfrecore - 04-14-2018 (04-14-2018, 11:29 AM)jjsafari Wrote: If you transfer in 104 credits I think it’s waived. I remember reading something to that effect I agree, I'd heard this from the start. If you don't plan on doing the TECEP-for-residency military plan (although I suggest it, you can easily take the 8 easiest TECEP's for it, I can tell you 5 right off the bat that most people could pass without much study), then you should definitely do the regular for-credit plan through the Study.com affiliate membership. Although, I do need to tell you that if you don't pay for your main fees before 6/30/18, the prices will be going up, and you won't be getting as good of a discount after that. Not sure what it will be exactly, but I'm guessing it will be 10% off the RW, and 5% off in-state tuition - which both will be going up most likely on 7/1 (but if not that day, then sometime in the future for sure). So don't bother determining the pricing difference between the 2 plans until you are actually ready to pay them. Using the current pricing when it's going to expire soon is not a good way to plan things out. Current prices for RW = $2500; less 10% discount = $2250; then, the RW fee will probably go up, last year it went from $2,000 to $2,500 (a 25% increase) Current prices for tuition (for capstone) = $1188; less 5% discount = $1128.6; the tuition last year went from $366/cr to $396/cr (an 8% increase, which is above the national average for yearly tuition increases) So if prices hold true this year, on 7/1, look for the RW to go to $3k+, and the tuition to go to $425+/cr. You should calculate it based on that instead. RE: TESU Cornerstone - cheapest way to satisfy requirement? - jsh1138 - 04-14-2018 they waived it for me bc i did some study.com courses. that's the easiest way to get around it |
