TESU Course Provider Downgrade Across the Board - armstrongsubero - 03-21-2018 I had my ACE transcripts placed on my evaluation today, and when the Managing Information Systems from Ed4Online was applied it transferred as CIS-201!!! On their ACPE page it clearly says it would transfer as CIS-301. So I am worried my final 7 credits to be applied are on their way to them with UL courses will also be downgraded. This is a nightmare. I'm afraid to do another course UL now, what if it also transfers as LL? Do you guys think this is a strategy for TESU to purposely downgrade alternative courses so people will have to do UL courses from them? Idk what to do now, I really can't stomach another non-tech course. Idk, but something tells me after this June things will change. and TESU is closed due to a winter storm. So wouldn't get a response to my email today....sigh.. RE: TESU Course Provider Downgrade Across the Board - davewill - 03-21-2018 Did you just submit it through ACE or specifically through ACPE? Sometimes the recommendations are different. Of course the Alternative Credit Project is shutting down very shortly, but it's not dead, yet. RE: TESU Course Provider Downgrade Across the Board - jsd - 03-21-2018 It's a strategy to be in line with ACE's recommendations. I'm sure they would like you to take more courses through them, but the reasoning seems more related to how ACE evaluates the credit. You should try to appeal based on the information TESU has posted online, on their own site, and possibly based on when you took these courses (esp if they were done before the end of Dec). But anyone going forward should be forewarned. RE: TESU Course Provider Downgrade Across the Board - armstrongsubero - 03-21-2018 Submitted through ACPE, Ed4Online does not have MIS on their ACE side of things. Remind me again which Shmoop are UL? my account with them expires the 1st April, so hopefully I could do a course and get UL credit for it. I have Professional Writing and E-Commerce on the way which are supposed to transfer as ENG-306 and CIS-360, though I heard E-commerce is not AOS on the BALS, so idk...I dont really enjoy literature, it bores me to tears, but I may have not choice but to a a Shmoop lit course... RE: TESU Course Provider Downgrade Across the Board - dfrecore - 03-21-2018 I would go to them (obviously tomorrow) with the info from the page showing it's supposed to come in as UL, and go from there. No, I don't think it's an attempt to make you do courses through them, but both jst and I have been saying that if they're doing it with Study.com, then they may be doing it with other course providers in the future, and it looks like the future is now. I think they are going to be moving towards ACE/NCCRS recommendations for this. There ARE other ACE/NCCRS-recommended UL courses you can take though: DSST: Fundamentals of Cybersecurity (CIS-344) TECEP: Network Technology (CMP-354) Davar: Management Info Systems (CIS-301) Study.com: BUS 303: Management Info Systems (CIS-301) CSU-Global: Info Systems Analysis & Design (CIS-320), Cloud Computing (CIS-499), +additional courses Also, last I heard, you could get a CISSP cert "laundered" through COSC (Coming in as CAP-216, CAP-274, CAP-302, CAP-385, CIS-344 and CMP-354 for a total of 4LL and 12UL credits). RE: TESU Course Provider Downgrade Across the Board - armstrongsubero - 03-21-2018 Thanks, I already emailed them and linked the page in the email, so hopefully they can give some feedback. RE: TESU Course Provider Downgrade Across the Board - allvia - 03-21-2018 What courses have you already completed that you planned as UL that TESU has not yet received/processed the transcripts for (& when did you complete them)? I suspect they are in a bit of a tizzy themselves with all these changes, but with you having it listed as an ACP on your ACE you should be fine. After all that expires at the end of month, it isn't like they will have to honor the program in good faith much longer. They are closed today due to a winter storm, so it could be a day or two until you hear from them. I know the waiting for response can be nervewracking. RE: TESU Course Provider Downgrade Across the Board - armstrongsubero - 03-21-2018 @allvia It's only Shmoop Professional Writing and MIS from Ed4Online I planned to use for UL as three of my classes I did at my local B&M were UL and TESU listed them as UL, I dont know if CMP-354 will be UL AOS for BALS. Hmmm I will see what they say tomorrow, then look at other options, thanks! |
