Shmoop - Shakespeare's Plays - Anyone taken it - kevinmane - 02-26-2018 Anyone taken Shakespeare's Plays on Shmoop? What did you think of it? Difficult? Tedious? How harsh was the grading on the written portions? Are there multiple choice tests/quizzes for this course? It comes in as LIT-320 at TESU, correct? RE: Shmoop - Shakespeare's Plays - Anyone taken it - Ideas - 02-26-2018 I haven't yet, but I hear it's the easiest Shmoop UL Lit course, and one of the easiest Shmoop Lit courses. Shmoop Lit in general is convoluted and frustrating, but that course should be less so than most. RE: Shmoop - Shakespeare's Plays - Anyone taken it - leland.kirk - 02-26-2018 I've taken it, and it's the UL one that took me the least amount of time. Highly recommend. I also recommend taking 'Shakespeare in Context' before, after, or alongside it. There's some significant overlapping. Edit: And yes, Shakespeare's Plays came in as 'Lit-320 Shakespeare I' for me. If anyone else is curious: Holocaust Lit. came in as 'Eng-301 The Holocaust' Lit. in the Media came in as 'Lit-430 Literature and the Media' Women's Lit. came in as 'Lit-323 Women in Literature' Modernist Lit. came in as 'Lit-399 Special Topics in Literature' and lastly, Drugs in Lit. came in as 'Lit-299 Special Topics in Literature' I haven't transferred my other Shmoop lit courses in yet. RE: Shmoop - Shakespeare's Plays - Anyone taken it - originalamyj - 02-26-2018 I also took it. All the plays they discuss have Shmoop pages with summaries and themes, etc. I don't recall outside articles or links with that course, just the shmoop pages. I thought is was mostly straightforward and enjoyable. RE: Shmoop - Shakespeare's Plays - Anyone taken it - kevinmane - 02-26-2018 How long did it take them to grade those mini essays? RE: Shmoop - Shakespeare's Plays - Anyone taken it - Cheeseburrito - 02-26-2018 Dang, I must have been the only person to have had a rough start on Shakespeare. You weren't! Well, it depends on which one. I was doing their old one which seems harder. You mean the prompts with text boxes in some of the quizzes? They don't get graded, but when you check your answers it'll tell you some of the things the quiz was looking for. The quizzes are optional, but good for reviewing RE: Shmoop - Shakespeare's Plays - Anyone taken it - kevinmane - 02-27-2018 So are there any unit exams or a final in this course? I've looked through the syllabus and scrolled through EACH page of this course - and there are no exams to take. Just mini-quizzes and a whole lot of writing activities. For this course, do I just do all the written activities and mini-quizzes? And then what? Submit to the teacher after I'm done with the whole course? Very confused. If you could spell out how I'm supposed to do this course, that'd be super appreciated.
