Information System Computer Application - armywife - 04-19-2006 Has any one take this test and is it hard and how much study time is needed Information System Computer Application - snazzlefrag - 04-19-2006 armywife Wrote:Has any one take this test and is it hard and how much study time is needed Hi Armywife, This was one of the first exams I ever took. It is not difficult at all if you have worked with computers or if you are at least familiar with computers. Many questions cover very basic concepts such as... Which of these is an input device: A. Monitor B. Printer C. PC Speakers D. Keyboard If you have studied using instantcert, you will know enough to pass this exam. Also, it is pass/fail so you don't necessarily have to ace it to earn the three credits. Study instantcert until you are comfortable with all the concepts and terminology. Then go for it! Best of luck! Please let us know how you do, Snazzlefrag Information System Computer Application - wilsonc711 - 04-20-2006 With some basic computer knowledge and some fundamental knowledge to programs like MS word, excel, access; and after going through the DANTES Management Information Systems study guide once I was able to pull a 59 without much effort the very next day. Good Luck Information System Computer Application - rjc311 - 04-20-2006 I have a decent knowledge of computers and studied only using Instantcert. I went through each set of questions two or three times and then I went through the sample questions on the college board study guide. I did well so I went and took the test (total study time about 5 hours over 3 days). I finished in about 45 minutes and got a 63. All thanks to Instantcert! Oh, BTW...this was my first CLEP... Information System Computer Application - armywife - 04-21-2006 Thanks for all the helpful information. I have worked with computers for a few years but I only know the basic. That basic knowledge will get you a long way on both the Intro to Computing AND the Information Systems & Computer Applications exams. Instantcert will take you the rest of the way. Once you have the instancert information down pat....go in and pass the exam (or both exams if you so choose)! Good luck, Snazzlefrag Information System Computer Application - upgray - 04-23-2006 I know next to nothing about computers. I studied only the instantcert and it was more than enough to pass. I also took the management information systems upper level dantes after this test because it had been recommended as similar. I passed it, but i really did a lot of guessing on the test. If you take that one too i would study the instantcert thoroughly. I didn't study as much as i normally would have. I was surprised by how much i didn't know. The MIS exam is upper level credit. It includes a lot more in-depth terminology and concepts than the lower level IS&CA exam. It's great that you were able to pass it though. Information System Computer Application - sgtwillys - 03-14-2008 Greetings everyone. New guy on the block here, I am 6 credits away from my BS in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle University. Once I have passed the Information System and Computer Application and Heres To Your Health, I will be done, then I can start the MS program. IC was recommended by others but after reading some of the posts, I am getting a bit concerned. Will IC help me get these tests out of the way. I am by no means a wiz with computers. Any ideas, thoughts. Thanks in advance for the help. Sgtwillys Information System Computer Application - mystified - 03-15-2008 Well I obviously got a much different exam than the rest of you. I used IC and Peterson's but in the end it was my extensive knowledge of all aspects of computers that got me through it. I had no easy questions. Even the gentleman that was supervising while I took the test made a comment on how hard the test was. I saw another thread before I took my test from someone who also had a strong IT background saying that was what got him through the test. I'm not trying to scare anyone but I just wouldn't go into it thinking it's going to be a breeze. Peterson's is probably closest to what the exam that I took is like and if you take their tests you'll realize it can be much more difficult. Not trying to be a downer and I hope you get the easy version. Good luck to you! |
