Information Literacy for Excelsior - hgreen0 - 11-01-2017 Hello, I am completing my BA in Psych through Excelsior. I was just informed by my academic adviser that although the Penn Foster Info Lit course that is ACE recommended or the Davar Info Lit course that is NCCRS recommended would not be accepted to fulfill the 1cr Excelsior Info Lit requirement. Has anyone had success with another Info Lit course that transferred to Excelsior to fulfill the requirement? Also is there a course or test that would fulfill the 1 UL credit Research and Writing requirement? I appreciate the feedback in advance! RE: Information Literacy for Excelsior - Life Long Learning - 11-01-2017 I did the EC Intro Lit course in 1.5 days. Did you take it through EC because there was no other alternative? RE: Information Literacy for Excelsior - Ideas - 11-02-2017 It seems like they want you to take it there But ask if Coopersmith's counts? RE: Information Literacy for Excelsior - hgreen0 - 11-02-2017 I will certainly ask about Coppersmith. I am feeling that EC is trying to make sure they get some more money out of you. I was hoping that another member would have successfully transferred in an outside course. I transferred in 116 of 120 credits needed for the BS. The Post 9/11 GI Bill paid for it so it was free to me. I did not look. RE: Information Literacy for Excelsior - 22gunsonfire - 11-06-2017 The Info lit at Davar was recommended to me when I talked to my advisor from Excelsior. I did the Info Lit at Excelsior though because I heard it was much easier than the Davar course. A review on the forum of the Davar course said its multiple choice with some short answers. Excelsior is all multiple choice and I completed it in 1.5 days with a 96% Davar is half the price at approx. 120$ Excelsior cost me 250$ with military pricing. I paid for the convenience. Good luck! RE: Information Literacy for Excelsior - hgreen0 - 11-07-2017 Update: After requesting that my academic adviser inquire with his higher ups about the Penn Foster's and Davar's Info Lit courses, he came back and apologized stating that either one of those courses would fulfill Excelsior's Info Lit requirement. Great news! Too bad it's not a letter grade. The quizzes were harder. I got one 70s; couple of 80s, and 90s on the quizzes. I did go back and redo them to 100% also. I also just did it for the convenience. It is under Library Science 101. |
