TESU - Locking course catalog before the new 2018 catalog - posabsolute - 09-04-2017 Hey guys, I applied for the BSBA gen 2 weeks ago at tesu, I got 30 credits from an ulterior degree (probably going to only be used as free electives) + about 20 credits from SL + study.com. I'm currently doing the AOS with study.com before they expire as UL. However, I am concerned with having my degree plan locked before the courses changes. From what I understand I need to take a TECEP to do that, however, we are getting close to 2018, I'm not sure when it's get refreshed? Can I still take a tecep this winter or am I too late? Thanks! RE: TESU - Locking course catalog before the new 2018 catalog - Ideas - 09-04-2017 You would have needed to enroll before July 1st to be in the 2017 catalog. RE: TESU - Locking course catalog before the new 2018 catalog - davewill - 09-04-2017 You need to be enrolled before July 1, which means in the June term, which closes registration near the end of May. So a TECEP this winter would work to get you the 2018 catalog. Theoretically, you're already locked in and have until a year from your acceptance to do it. You might find verbage to that effect on your academic eval. We give the other advice because we're not as sure about that as we'd like to be. However, from time to time, TESU makes policy changes that are independent of the catalog. The change disallowing TECEPs to fulfill residency was one of those. For that reason it's a good idea to enroll as soon as you're ready to commit to the process. I had my evals done this summer and immediately applied for the Guardian Scholarship. I am in my second month of that, so when it expires Nov 1 I planned to either start studying for a CLEP or a TECEP to officially enroll. Regardless, it sounds like I wouldn't be in the 2017 catalog, right? I assumed since it was all done after July 1 I wouldn't be in this years catalog anyways, so what's the hurry. I also don't have any idea what TECEP to take so I've been dragging my feet.
RE: TESU - Locking course catalog before the new 2018 catalog - davewill - 09-04-2017 Correct, you already missed the 2016/17 catalog, and would be in the 2017/18 catalog. Not that it matters as there were no significant changes. There is no real hurry, as I said a TECEP this winter will work fine. The theoretical part is whether you actually have until the anniversary date of your acceptance to do it. However just do it this winter and you'll be fine. RE: TESU - Locking course catalog before the new 2018 catalog - posabsolute - 09-04-2017 Hmmm I was not expecting that, altho it makes sense. I am following the 2017 BSBA general management plan by bjcheung77 found here: http://degreeforum.net/mybb/showthread.php?tid=24842&pid=239583#pid239583 (#5 reply) Is that still up to date for 2018? Yes, there were no changes I'm aware of. RE: TESU - Locking course catalog before the new 2018 catalog - Ideas - 09-04-2017 I was told that they sometimes make changes besides the July 1st catalog changes, so that is a reason to get locked in. RE: TESU - Locking course catalog before the new 2018 catalog - dfrecore - 09-04-2017 They used to make any and all changes on July 1, but that changed in April 2016 (I think) and now we recommend locking in your catalog immediately. Since they have no per-term fees, there's no downside to it. Catalog changes are still July 1. |
