RHEL 6 - Root Password Change (How To) - bjcheung77 - 08-08-2017 Hello, I have a question in regards to the Root password reset. How does a newbie do it? I'm trying to change the password and there's no "icon" for that. When I go into terminal, it says I need to be logged into root. Isn't the main account that I created, the root account? Thank you, RE: RHEL 6 - Root Password Change (How To) - quigongene - 08-08-2017 from terminal: su root <enter root password> passwd RE: RHEL 6 - Root Password Change (How To) - jsd - 08-09-2017 (08-08-2017, 03:56 PM)bjcheung77 Wrote: Isn't the main account that I created, the root account? Your main account for normal use should definitely not be root. RE: RHEL 6 - Root Password Change (How To) - quigongene - 08-09-2017 Also agree with this, but he asked a specific question. RE: RHEL 6 - Root Password Change (How To) - jsd - 08-09-2017 sure, but you seemed to have fielded that one fine on your own. i was making a separate point.
