TESU BA History Plan...suggestions/opinions - lcholbr - 06-15-2017 Can y'all take a look at my plan for completing the BA in History at TESU. The bold courses are what I have remaining and the courses with an * should satisfy my UL requirements. Does this look like an effective plan? General Education Requirements (60) Intellectual and Practical Skills (15) Written Communication (6) English Composition I-CC Transfer English Composition II-CC Transfer Oral Communication (3) Oral Communication-CC Transfer Quantitative Literacy (3) College Algebra-CC Transfer Information Literacy (3) Intro to World Religions (study.com) Civic and Global Learning (9) Diversity (3) Sociology-CC Transfer Ethics (3) Ethics and the Business Professional (study.com)* Civic Engagement (3) American Government-CC Transfer Knowledge of Human Cultures (12) Psychology-CC Transfer Music Appreciation-CC Transfer Intro to Human Geography (study.com) Intro to Humanities I (study.com) Understanding the Natural and Physical World (8) Astronomy-CC Transfer Principles of Biology I-CC Transfer General Education Electives (16) Cornerstone-Lifelong Learning Strategies (TESU) Beginning Algebra-CC Transfer Intermediate Algebra-CC Transfer New Testament Survey-CC Transfer Principles of Biology II-CC Transfer English Literature I-CC Transfer Area of Study: History (33) Required Courses (18) Western Civilization I-CC Transfer Western Civilization II-CC Transfer American History I-CC Transfer American History II-CC Transfer Non US History-The Middle East (TESU)* Historical Methods (TESU)* Capstone (3) Liberal Arts Capstone (TESU)* History Electives (12) The Civil War and Reconstruction (study.com) History of the Vietnam War (study.com)* The American Civil War Era (study.com) World History (straighterline.com) Electives (27) English Literature II-CC Transfer Intro to Criminal Justice (study.com) Foundations of Education (study.com) Classroom Management (study.com)* Special Topics in Education (study.com) Intro to Special Education (study.com) Intro to Early Childhood Education (study.com) Intro to Educational Psychology (study.com) Human Growth and Development (study.com) TESU BA History Plan...suggestions/opinions - davewill - 06-15-2017 You've got one problem. TESU is great because they only require 18UL credits, but all of those credits have to be in the AOS (and capstone). That Ethics course doesn't count towards your UL requirement, so you'll need one more UL AOS course. On the plus side, since you haven't taken it yet, you could replace it with the free ethics course. TESU BA History Plan...suggestions/opinions - dfrecore - 06-15-2017 Couple of issues: 1) you probably can't transfer in Beginning Algebra, it's not considered college-level by TESU 2) if you apply to TESU with the study.com affiliate membership, you get the cornerstone waived, a discount on the residency waiver, and a discount on any courses you take there including the capstone (should be $1098 instead of $1497 each) 3) your 18cr of UL must all be in the Core/AOS, so 3 of your history electives must be UL - check study.com's HIS 308: Causes & Effects of the Vietnam War, which may come in as HIS-351 - DSST's History of the Soviet Union is HIS-386 - DSST's Vietnam War course is still HIS-351 - CSU-Global CBE - US History 1945 to present is UL, not sure of the course equivalency COSC and EC require UL credits to be throughout your degree, but TESU doesn't care what UL courses you may have in any area except the Core/AOS. TESU BA History Plan...suggestions/opinions - bjcheung77 - 06-16-2017 That's an interesting degree plan, mainly using CC and Study.com courses. It's a workable plan with the changes/updates mentioned earlier. Just to be on the safe side, I would take ALEKS for a couple of math courses. The OP already has Beg, Int & College Algebra. I wouldn't waste my time with ALEKS math at this point. Stats is too hard (time consuming if you don't already know the info), and Trig/Precalc may be too hard at this point as well. |
