Well, I'm about done with my education, and before I step into the path of a Masters degree..
I am in the mood and was wanting to "brush" up my resume & CV or even an intro letter...

I think I would like to see if a possible job offer would be happening after I get that degree.
Guess it would only happen if I actually get started with sending out my info...

I would like to do this essentially, not the social media way... but the old fashion way.
Sending in applications and CV/Resume online, not through LinkedIn or Indeed, etc.

Anyone see some "exciting" examples or templates available online? I've browsed a few.
Most of them are the type I already have - it's over a decade old! I want a "new life" on it!

Cover letter and resume for management jobs?

In case you did not know, a lot of the fancier resumes cannot be read by the automated systems Sad Unfortunately many companies rely on those and it is supposed to be risky if the systems can't read all of your text.

I would make sure, before you spend a lot of time on it, that wherever you apply will actually take it this way. Many companies will only accept your filling out their online forms (time consuming, ugh!), and won't take a scanned/emailed/online "resume".

Yes, it has become very time consuming because more and more companies have you fill out online forms. On some of them, you also upload a resume.

Also, a lot of companies expect your resume to be only 1 page.

This is the part I really don't understand, why would they do that, or how would they "get to know" the applicant?
Usually for me, I have two pages for the resume and one page for the cover letter, so that's 3 in total at least...

Further to that, the main thing I don't like about online applications is... there was one I did a couple of days ago.
It had a 45 minute "assessment" testing and many of the questions are repeats... some only two choices to choose from.
This is BEFORE submitting the resume/CV to their site, I was amazed by that... 45 minutes with online assessments!

I've always sent a resume, then called and followed up later to check up . Works well.

One benefit of LinkedIn, is that you can use the platform to upload your resume on LinkedIn jobs. I'd boost that too.

Because they're getting a few hundred applicants per open position and need to drill down quickly -- you need to be able to sell yourself quickly. they can get to know you better in the interview, which will tell them a lot more than your resume does.

having said that, it's pretty impossible to get my resume down to 1 page.

They prefer people who only had 1-2 jobs in the past many years. It is definitely easier to do a 1 page if you were more stable with employment. But I saw someone with a lot of impressive stuff who condensed his into 1 page.
