Am I the only one here who prefers Study.com over STRAIGHTERLINE ? My daughter seems to enjoy that format better. The quizzes on Study.com are not timed. She has more time to digest the information, the flashcards are a great study tool. The info is broken down in smaller pieces. Yes, finals are closed book but if you do well on quizzes , practice the chapter tests and review flash cards it's actually very straightforward. Also, their proctoring system is awesome. STRAIGHTERLINE, though open book, sometimes seems to ask very obscure questions and the one chance timed quizzes are stressful. Maybe thick textbooks scare her. 😆

I like how study.com presents the material, and I like the quizzes and tests. I have not used the flashcards, but for harder courses I am sure they will help.
I have not tried SL yet. I will be in a few weeks. I find it interesting how some people prefer one or the other

I'm with you. I am currently doing my first SL course and I'm not impressed. It's fine and pretty quick but I do think I prefer the Study.com format. Yea, it gets annoying sometimes with the constant quizzes but SL is reminding me of Shmoop (although much better), which I did not care for. I think I will really enjoy not needing to study much for the final in SL, but a 55% isn't very difficult with the Study.com courses, especially after having the info repeated so much through the courses, quizzes, and practice tests. I understand the speed of SL is a big factor to people, but give me Study.com. The timed quizzes in SL are actually more difficult for me since I have kids at home. I have to wait until around 8:00 once they are in bed to do any work. With Study.com I can do quzzes whenever I want since they take about 5 minutes each and nothing is timed.

I do like that SL will be quicker (from what I hear), but I am worried I might learn and remember less. With study.com I feel like I am learning in the right way.

I was liking this study.com Principles of Finance course, but now I wish it could speed up. I just want to take the exam and be done, but I have to take 50 more quizzes. So I wish I were doing SL instead.

A lot of people like Study.com. It is too slow and tedious for me. I also don't think they teach at the college level. Study.com seems to be made for those in high school.

I find there are bad/good points for both Straighterline and Study.com, my suggestion is to look into the courses carefully and see what's required.
Find the courses that are not available at the other and take those. Haha, if it's offered at both, find out which one is more for you or coin flip!
I highly recommend looking into take more courses at Straighterline to maximize the monthly membership.
And for Study.com, to buy more exams at 70$/3 credits. Either way, find out your best courses for the time.

The process with Study.com was decent. I agree with Sanantone that the courses did not feel like a value if you wanted to truly increase your knowledge at a college level. My daughter felt the same when comparing her Study.com courses to Straighterline (she's 19). My preference is with Straighterline, not just for increased information but their cost value and structure for those that can max out the monthly subscription.
Glad to have them both as resources.

Bottom line is that SL is way faster than study.com. Life has a tendency to get in the way so the slow lane is IMHO risky. You might not finish your degree before Murphy's law strikes sooner rather than later.

Also, I love that I can take the final before the quizzes at SL. I wish I could take the final at study.com right now.
