InstantCert for US History 1 - Silly_Me - 05-07-2017

Before I sign up for InstantCert, I'd like to know a little bit more about how it works. Is it possible to focus my flash cards on just one category? For example, if I'm studying the early explorers, can I just see flash cards for that time period, or is everything mixed in together? I'm thinking that for something like history, it's easiest to learn it in chronological order. But, if the flash cards are all mixed up, that doesn't really seem helpful.

Thanks for the inside scoop!

Hey Silly_Me,
So Instantcert does divide everything up into sections, and for history, chronologically. For example, in CLEP US History 1, it's broken up like this:
Colonial Period to the American Revolution (1500-1787)
The Newly Formed United States (1787-1824)
Jacksonian Democracy and the Mexican War (1824-1850)
Sectional Tensions and the Civil War (1850-1877)
Philosophy and Politics of the Time Period

Here's my solution for dividing the early explorers flashcards up. Just mark the early explorers and study those marked cards as your own custom sort of deck (if you want it to, for however long you want, it will just show the marked cards).

So it doesn't have a section for JUST early explorers, but instead it has sections for the major time periods covered by the test.
BTW, I'd really recommend you try Instantcert. It's awesome. And if you change your mind, you can get your money back no matter what within 30 days.

Hope this helps you make a decision!

Thanks! Can I create my own flashcards, too? I understand that there is a ton of material on the test that isn't covered on the IC flashcards.

No problem Smile
So you can create your own flashcards, but you can't make flashcards just for yourself. They will go to every user studying that subject and will appear as a user-submitted flashcard (which can either be voted up or down). Here's the link: https://www.instantcertonline.com/members/Member/talk_tab/0.
If you have a ton of flashcards you want to make, try Quizlet.

Is your goal to pass or to actually learn the material well and get a high score?

Oh, I just want to pass! This is my first CLEP test. So, I'm reading through the REA book (taking notes as I go), watching Crash Course videos & working through those InstantCert flashcards. I also found the History 1 notes in the "private forum," so I'd like to make flashcards with that information as well. I'm hoping to be ready for the test in 4-6 weeks. Of course, I just started studying today. So, wish me luck!
