Asking for a 3 credit waiver for Social Psychology at TESU? - frostedfire - 04-03-2017 Hi, Can someone please advise the best way to ask for a waiver of 3 of the credits for the social psychology course at TESU? TESU requires 6, but study.com's course is 3. Thank you so much! Other than that, it has to equal 6 credits, so... that's the only option... Are you taking all your Psychology courses at Study.com? If not, do it! They do the negotiating with TESU about their courses, so they'd probably be in the best position to advise. Asking for a 3 credit waiver for Social Psychology at TESU? - jsd - 04-03-2017 When I transferred my soc psych course, I scheduled time with an advisor and simply asked if I could make up the difference in psych electives. She asked the dean and it was approved in a day. She said it wasn't a problem because it was coming in as UL. But mine came from Patten University, not Study.com. Theirs comes in as UL too, so hopefully it'll be easy for you too. Asking for a 3 credit waiver for Social Psychology at TESU? - dfrecore - 04-03-2017 I think almost every person on this forum who's gotten a Psych degree from TESU has had this issue, and all have been waived and made up for with another UL Psych course. Asking for a 3 credit waiver for Social Psychology at TESU? - swalke321 - 04-04-2017 The 6 credit social psych requirement is somewhat new. In the past it was not required and was considered an elective. It was added July of 2015 I believe. So when you bring in a course from outside, they just give you the 3cr, and move the other 3cr down to Psych electives. Not that it matters too much, but I took the TESU Social Psych 6 credit course- it was NOT double the work and was super interesting. That said, tuition per credit has skyrocketed, and at the current rate, it dampens my enthusiasm. But, it was a pretty good class. Asking for a 3 credit waiver for Social Psychology at TESU? - frostedfire - 04-05-2017 I got some unfortunate news today: "Good morning frostedfire, Unfortunately, the dean will not allow you to substitute one of your other courses. Please see the response below. She must take 3 more credits in any of the areas below. Intro Social Psyc, Research Methods in Social Psyc, Attitudes and Persuasion, Social Cognition, Interpersonal Relations, Human Sexuality, Group Behavior, Race, Gender and Culture, Applied Soc Psyc, Grad level Soc Psyc courses. You could just take PSY-379, Social Psychology, as it is a 6 credit course. Should you have additional questions, please create a new ticket by sending an email to academicadvising@tesc.edu with your degree program in the subject line. Thank you." I have also taken the study.com Educational Psychology but that transferred into the General Electives section.
