Understanding the Physical & Natural World TESC requirement - Science course options? - gremlinbrawler - 01-31-2017
Hi I have seen on other threads that it seems like I can take any science course on study.com to fulfill my last few credits of my phys/nat world requirement but I just wanted to make sure before I take the test.
I have already taken Environment and Humanity DSST and I want to take either
Nutrition 101 - Science of Nutrition -OR-
Health 101 - Principles of Health
Can I take either of these on study.com to finish that requirement section?

The Health course is a free elective only. The Nutrition course is acceptable.
If you haven't taken the computer courses, I would recommend them. They are shorter and if you have any experience with computers over the years, a lot will be common knowledge. I recommend taking both computer courses from Study.com because there is a ton of overlap. One will fulfill the Business core requirement, and the other can fulfill a Science requirement. I don't know if you are going for a business degree or not but those two courses were very easy and I have no special computer knowledge, I've just grown up using one for the standard stuff.

If you are looking at Study.com, Nutrition 101 - Science of Nutrition counts as TESU BIO-208 : The Science of Nutrition and DOES fulfill the science requirement.
Health 101 - Principles of Health counts as TESU HEA-103 : Here's To Your Health and only counts as a free elective. DO NOT TAKE HEALTH for the science requirement.

Also, I know you didn't list Earth Science, but I would not recommend that one from Study.com. It covers a ton of info and is just all over the place for one course. Also, there were at least 5 questions on the final that showed a picture that was too blurry and the writing too small to accurately answer. Those pictures never once came up in the quizzes or chapter tests, and it was impossible to read everything on them.

I've taken the Information Systems CLEP - and that's in my Professional Requirement section but that's all I've taken as far as computer courses so I could maybe take the BUS109- Intro to computing on Study.com for my Science requirement? That wouldn't overlap right? I'm doing BSBA- HR by the way.
Thanks for the tip! I'm all for short, easy courses. And I had taken a look at the Earth Science one so thanks for the advice! I will definitely steer clear of it now!

I don't know CLEP at all, so I can't help you with what they come in as. KayV or dfrecore can answer that for you. The CLEP you mentioned does sound like the same course so you will probably need to take the Business 109. There are 75 quizzes, but many of them I was able to pass without even reading the lessons. For my evaluation, TESU put the Business 104 course into the Science section, and the Business 109 course into the Business core, but they are interchangeable.
For the Study.com courses - Business 104 transfers to TESU as CIS-102 and Business 109 is COS-101. I was super pumped when I contacted TESU and they confirmed that they do not overlap and that I could use both. I was not looking forward to more "true" Science courses, especially after Earth Science took forever.

Yes, you can take Intro to Computing at Study.com and not have it overlap the CLEP.

I'm so glad you recommended the computer course! I started it and realized that I already have 27 of the quizzes passed from doing other courses! Now I only have to do 48 quizzes. I definitely appreciate the feedback.

Thought I'd mention, because I haven't seen this anywhere else... In my eval, TESU put Teex's Cyber Security for Business Professionals (comes in as CIS-344) under Understanding the Physical & Natural World. It surprised me because I've always read it was only an elective, and a gen ed elective at most. Pretty awesome; maybe y'all already know this?
