TESU Residency Waiver - How to Pay it? - Yana - 01-01-2017

I am planning to graduate from TESU in March. I have paid the graduation fee but can't find out how to pay residency waiver fee. I have looked under student services and on TESU website but didn't find any info. Anyone have any idea about this??

They will contact you to pay it after your final eval, but before graduation. There's no way to pay it until after they've determined that you're ready to graduate, but don't have the residency requirements met.

Thank you. They are closed till 3rd and I was worried without payment my request won't go through.

This is incorrect.

Call the bursar and pay over the phone. That is the only way to pay it, and they want it done *before* you apply for graduation. I applied first then emailed to ask how to pay it, and they told me "call the bursar and pay it now. If it's not paid before you apply, your application may be rejected."

I called to ask a question about it, and was told that you didn't need to pay it until you applied for graduation. Once again, conflicting info.

I guess I meant that you couldn't pay it online (like a course), and you shouldn't pay it until you're ready to apply for graduation. And I would pay it right after applying - like that day or the next. I wouldn't wait a month or anything.

And I ask, how would they know that you need to pay it until it's determined that you're ready to graduate, but haven't gotten the residency credits??? From their end, you might still end up taking some courses from them, in which case you would meet residency. So it just makes no sense to pay it until you're ready to graduate.

Nobody said this. You should pay before you *apply* to graduate, not before you are "ready"; Most people would know since the academic evaluation will show all of their credit requirements are met. At which point they should pay the waiver *then* apply for graduation. This is the info I got from advising (Patricia Certo) as well as the Bursar I spoke to when I called.

I was under the impression once you see that you have what you need for graduation, you apply then call and pay the residency waiver. At least that's what seemed to what people have been saying a couple months ago with all those September and December grads in 2016.

Almost. You apply to graduate when you expect to have all your requirements in time to graduate. It's pretty normal to have the last few requirements still in process (whether TESU courses or transfer credits) when you apply. That's why dfrecore said they don't have any way to be sure that you won't meet residency by the time the audit is done. However, they can easily add up the resident credits you have and any you are enrolled in to see whether you can meet residency or not. If you aren't enrolled in enough to put you over the limit when you apply, then you won't magically have enough by the time you graduate.

I didn't say that anyone said this, I was just asking the question: how would TESU know that you want to graduate without the residency credits until you apply for graduation? They don't. So it's not like they're going to bill you or something before you apply to graduate.

I personally would apply for graduation, and then get ready to pay the residency waiver immediately afterwards (like within a day or two). If they didn't contact me within a couple of days after application, I would contact them.
