TESU Capstone appeal for BA in Liberal Studies - Gaz - 12-29-2016
Has anyone here ever successfully appealed the capstone requirement for the BA in Liberal Studies?
Here is a quote from TESU's Capstone Transfer Policy; "Students who transfer in sufficient credits to fulfill all degree requirements (i.e. âinstant grads.â), may appeal the capstone requirement to the Dean of their school."

That's a newish sentence that's popped up over the last year, no one here had discussed actually attempting it. I suspect it's more focused on folks who did the strategic management course elsewhere before they changed the rules on it.
I'd love to see someone attempt it!

What capstone course are you planning to transfer in? This appeal won't work if you don't have anything because the capstone is a degree requirement.

The appeal TESU mentions on their site is specifically to waive that requirement.
Not that I think it'll be successful, but that's what the site says.

The verbiage doesn't include the word waive. I can see how it can be interpreted differently though, but the title of the page is "Capstone Transfer Policy". It's likely this appeal is for somebody who is trying to finish a degree after many years and finished the capstone at the original college before dropping out.
This is similar to the course sequence policy where you satisfy the missing 1A credit after taking the 1B course. It's intended for someone who got placed in the 1B course at the original college. It's not intended for someone to get around the 1A requirement with no documentation. That's why it would likely be fruitless to take the 1B course and try to get advising to waive 1A with no documentation.
I do agree that the chances of success are close to zero absent a transferred capstone course.

The other thing is that it should probably be a BA-level (4-yr school) Capstone course transferred in to fulfill the requirement. My CC AA Capstone was added to my TESU Academic Eval as "FEL-101 Orientation", although on the CC transcript it clearly says "Liberal Arts Capstone".

I agree with TrailRunr, this was not a waiver but a transfer in of a capstone course from another college. I think it had to do with some students who were finishing up the PF Strategic Management course and were going to be transferring it in. They left a little leeway for that kind of thing.
It is definitely not a waiver, in that people don't have to take a capstone. Not a chance.
