How To Get Huge Discount Fees At Excelsior - ImustStudy - 10-22-2007 OK everyone, here is a secret that may work for you and save you perhaps several thousand $$ in fees at Excelsior. Excelsior has special agreements with certain groups and gives their members discounted enrollment fees and graduation fees. The only catch is you have to take so many class in residence at Excelsior or you will be charged the regular fees to graduate. EC exams do not count. You can save about $700 in enrollement fees and then another $600 or $700 on graduation fees I believe. One organization that you can join is the National Latino Peace Officers Association. You don't have to be latino and don't have to be a peace officer to join. I believe the cost is about $60 and Excelsior never checks to see that you are a member, they take your word for it. ( I am a member by the way and recommend that you join to be legit). Excelsior even has an ad on their membership application. http://www.nlpoa.org Save yourself some money. This is the real deal. You may be able to get this retro-active if you speak to the right advisor. How To Get Huge Discount Fees At Excelsior - barbara2bba - 01-16-2008 Do you know what it means that you have to complete 12 Excelsior college credits for a Bachelors Degree to get the discount? I am thinking that you have to take 4 of their courses as opposed to their exams. How To Get Huge Discount Fees At Excelsior - StealingDreams - 01-16-2008 I'm pretty sure it just means credits earned through EC meaning credits earned through ECEs should count just as much as courses. I will try and get this verified though. I joined the Peace Officers Association of Georgia today (it was only $25 for a non-active membership meaning you don't qualify to vote on things and anyone can join) I don't know if I will use it or not but I probably will. By my math 3 ECE at $205 and a discounted Business Strat course I was going to have to take anyway comes to $1365 where 3 CLEP/DSST at $90 and a non discounted course is $1140 which is only a difference of $225. You would save $1090 in Enrollment and Graduation fees so even with the $25 fee to join it is a net savings of $840 which I think makes it quite obvious what to do. Now just to confirm ECEs qualify. Keep us informed, is the association different than the National Latino Peace Officers Association? Can you double dip? How To Get Huge Discount Fees At Excelsior - StealingDreams - 01-16-2008 The discount is the same no matter what group you are with. The POAG is a different group from NLPOA but they are basically for the same thing. POAG is just specific to Georgia and since I live in Atlanta I figured it would be more acceptable and actually support my local law enforcement while I saved some money. Basically it isn't a % off or anything so no double dipping, you either qualify for the rates or you don't. It brakes down like this: Application Fee still $75 Enrollment Fee is $150 instead of $895 (pending the 12 credits otherwise they charge you the difference at graduation) Tuition is $250 per credit instead of $290 Student Services Annual Fee is $70 instead of $440 if you are enrolled for longer than a year but the catch is you have to have complete 6 hours of credits at EC durring the previous year Gradution Fee is $150 instead of $495 again with the assumption you earned at least 12 credits at EC. I'm waiting to hear back on the ECEs counting toward the 12 credits but from the way it is written I'm pretty confidant they do. I'll let you know when I get the official word. How To Get Huge Discount Fees At Excelsior - Icanstudy - 01-16-2008 Under Excelsiorâs "Military Option 1" Policy, âstudents are required to take some Excelsior College distance learning courses.â When I spoke to the admissions counselor he said Exams did NOT count towards the requirement. I suppose the obvious reason is they get paid more for classes than exams. If anyone out there received a different response I would welcome your experience.
