Oral Communications - videogamesrock - 11-28-2016 Just curious, would a course entitled to Intro to Linguistics satisfy the oral communications gen ed at COSC or TESU? I am taking this course at Rio Salado College in order to complete my Language Studies certificate. Here is the description: SLC201 — Introduction to Linguistics Credits: 3 Introduction to the study of language. Study of the nature and diversity of world languages, linguistic structures and functions of language, language variation, pragmatics and the learning/acquisition of first and second languages. Prerequisites: None. See Syllabus for full course description. Oral Communications - jsd - 11-28-2016 If there's no public speaking component, such as a speech delivered to the class (or a video speech to the course provider as is the case with most ACE options) then it is unlikely to meet the requirement. Of course this will vary by school, so contact an advisor. But don't get your hopes up. Oral Communications - videogamesrock - 11-28-2016 I actually will PLA speech, I just wasn't sure if this would be acceptable since the requirements look more like guidelines than rules. |
