TESU BSBA-Accounting/CPA Degree Plan help - mremb - 11-06-2016

Hello! I applied recently to TESU and i'm just waiting for the process to be complete for acceptance. I'm interested in Accounting, and I do want to become a CPA in the future but I know the program prepares you for the exam in NJ, would it make any sense to do this program instead of the regular accounting program if my home state is Florida?

On another note I was looking through the wiki for a degree plan to help me finish quick but it all seems out-dated, and my google-fu is lacking because I couldn't find any threads. Could someone assist me in making a degree plan? I don't expect many of my transfer credits to help in this program so I kind of want to just start a plan as if I had 0 and I can tailor it after the evaluation is complete. Thank you in advance!

I found this Sanantone's BSBA in Accounting post-July 1, 2015 | Degree Forum Wiki | Fandom powered by Wikia Looks promising! Does anyone have any experience using this plan? I was thinking using this combining with Sanantone's GenEd plan I should be all good to go.

I have a generic plan, but it's a lot easier if you post your credits here and let me plug them in - I know the requirements better than you do, so it's good for you to see where things would go.

Sanantone's plans are still good. Mine is an actual spreadsheet with the courses already planned in, but Sanantone's plans give all of the options available for each requirement/area, so it's great if you aren't sure which course you want to take, or aren't sure where you want to take a specific course (there are so many options available).

Also, you need to research your own state to see what their requirements are before you go any further. It would suck to plan this all out and then not qualify for your state. Do the research, and plan that all into your degree. Make sure you do the TESU Accounting/CPA track rather than just the BSBA in Accounting (not enough credits for a CPA). You'll probably need an additional 30cr (150 instead of 120) for the CPA track in your state.

I did read that CLEP exams will not count, but it wasn't clear if that was for anything, or just business. So you'll want to make sure you check very carefully into the requirements before you start working through them.

Thanks for the reply. I checked last night and the only requirements were 39 credits in business classes and 36 credits in accounting. I did see that CLEP wouldn't count but there was also something saying that as long as the school accepted them it would be fine.

I still have a few weeks before the evaluation is done, I just wanted to get a head start on the classes. If you don't mind sending the generic I could just cross out whatever they accept when the eval is complete.

Unfortunately *gasps*, all your courses from Full Sail University will not be transferable to COSC or TESU.
I think your best bet would be Excelsior, Hodges, Patten, WGU as they accept Nationally Accredited schools.
Hope this helps, you will need to decide on the school and possible programs you would want to get into.

Yeah I didn't think so lol. WGU only accepted 6 of them. UMUC did accept 22 or so. I'll check out Excelsior.

dfrecore, (not sure if you can tag people lol) [attachment=1297] I was reading some threads and found this. I guess this is what you were planning on sending? Hope I saved you some time lol.

Would you be able to edit it with the prices and what not of all these classes? Looks like Im going to start from scratch but I decided to stick with TESU, I like their Accounting/CPA program the most. I also looked through the CPA requirements for my state in more depth and it looks like they will in fact accept the degree. I emailed them just to double check.

All of this is so overwhelming and I appreciate the help from everyone here.

Obviously I wasn't the best when I was younger don't judge lol. But it is 12 more credits than I had before.

Which school was this for? I don't see the school name anywhere.

If it's an RA school, then you will get 9cr - Developmental Math won't get credits since it won't be considered college-level. But the other 3 will come in.
