Am I totally crazy?!?! (Information Systems CLEP helllppp!) - katydid89 - 11-02-2016 Hi all, So I scheduled my information systems CLEP for this friday- and I'm getting cold feet. I haven't studied lots but then I'm also fairly familiar with computers. (Created my own web sites using basic coding) and was of the "floppy" generation- as in I used them as a kid. How is this exam? Am I nuts for just taking this more or less cold? I will review some, but how much can I cram in 2 days with a 12 hour work shift in between? Help!! Any advice or admonishments or feedback very welcomed. Kate Am I totally crazy?!?! (Information Systems CLEP helllppp!) - alzee - 11-02-2016 You're probably a little nuts. Unless you've actually worked in the industry, you probably aren't going to have the slightest clue about enterprise stuff (ERP, CRM, etc) or professional development stuff (SDLC, Agile, etc). You might be able to pass it cold, but if so, I think it'll be close. I've been an IT professional for 20 years and I wouldn't feel confident enough to try it without at least a day or two cramming buzzwords and test-specific stuff. Am I totally crazy?!?! (Information Systems CLEP helllppp!) - katydid89 - 11-02-2016 I will certainly look up those! Normally I wouldn't do it like this, but partially I want it over with, and partially I want to see if I can get away with passing it and not having to take the class over christmas. (ick) For the next day or two I'll be looking up things, reading snazzlefrags notes, and taking the IC flashcards when able. So I guess I'll have some things rattling around in there. But I definitely won't be studying for 2-3 weeks like some of these people do!! Well, here's to taking risks. I'm a fairly good guesser- and critical thinker. (comes with passing Nursing school I guess). We shall see! Thanks for the reply Am I totally crazy?!?! (Information Systems CLEP helllppp!) - dfrecore - 11-03-2016 I took the DSST Intro to Computers and the TECEP Computer Apps both cold, and passed. Not sure on the CLEP. I have no experience in IT or anything computer-related, just years spent using them for work - and the last 10 years on Mac's, so not even familiarity with Windows or anything now. And still didn't think those were difficult. Am I totally crazy?!?! You seems to be in the same "era" of computers as me with website coding (im guessing in HTML). You should DEFINETLY head over to the CLEP site and review what is on the test. Take a day or two to familiarize yourself with some of the stuff you may have no clue on. Some of the test will be super easy where other parts are going to be harder. I have the CLEP guide and got like 85% of them right on the first try cold. However I didn't end up taking this exam because my original CC plan didn't take the Info Systems CLEP. I did that one a long time ago I am not an IT person but it was a little out of date at that time, have they updated it? Am I totally crazy?!?! (Information Systems CLEP helllppp!) - katydid89 - 11-05-2016 I passed it With a 57. Not great, but not horrible for taking it on a spur of the moment thing. It seemed pretty updated to me Am I totally crazy?!?! (Information Systems CLEP helllppp!) - Zachcleigh - 11-05-2016 Took the dsst version. Studied for about 4 hours then got a 435. Not a bad test |
