I am looking at the IT degrees at WGU, I wanted to know if anyone on this forum as attended this school and got one of the IT degrees? I know it's more expensive and was wondering if anyone has a plan of action to transfer classes over before applying? Is there somewhere I can take natural sciences, physics, geography,

Depending on how quickly you're able to move through it, it's actually a great price. Especially on the IT side, considering all of the IT certs that are rolled into the tuition cost.

that said, i have not gone through this program so i can't give any personal insight.

My 17 year old son was planning on doing an IT degree at WGU, but he's decided to do a business degree instead. He did 6 math credits via ALEKS, 9 credits at Saylor, and 15 credits at Straighterline, and he plans to do another 36 or more credits this fall before beginning WGU. He will almost certainly be able to graduate in two terms, making his tuition at WGU only $6,000 - not too bad at all, particularly considering he'll use the American Opportunity Tax Credit for just over $4,000 of that.

My info is a couple of years old. Do you have experience in the IT field? Do you have any IT certifications? Straighterline and IT certs will transfer. Other options will too. You have to watch the age of any certs or technology courses. The cap for transfer is between 80 and 90 credits. They used to have transfer guides, but you have to look around for them. There was also an equivalency chart at Straighterline. For me because of the amount, age, and type of credits I had along with some older certs both COSC and the TESU were better options for me.

More expensive than what? I think this is one of the least expensive degrees out there. They take ACE, and are partners with SL, so you can get a lot of your credits the way we are on here, and then do the major portion through WGU and get the IT certs as well.

I wish I did their undergrad IT, I am in their MBA IT. Make sure to look at their scholarships, shouldn't be hard to get one. I think there is one for if you took a course though StraighterLine you will get $500 /term off. I am not sure off the top of my head though, go check it out.

WGU - College of Information Technology Course Equivalency Guide | StraighterLine

Here is the list of courses guaranteed to transfer via Straighterline. WGU also offers a $200 "scholarship" if you complete at least 4 SL courses.

I didnt realize you could test out of some of WGU degrees. Very nice. How close can you get to completing a degree there with transfer credits, and alternative credits?

i think you have to do 60 credits (they call them CU/competency units) via WGU for their Bachelors (this is from memory, so someone correct me if I'm wrong).

All credits have to be completed BEFORE you enroll at WGU. They will not accept any new credits you do outside of WGU after you enroll. You're locked in.

Also, what WGU accepts for transfers varies by their schools (Teachers College, College of Business, College of IT, and College of Health) - they all have their own slightly different transfer guidelines, so look up the transfer guides for your particular program.
