Math courses from Shmoop got ACE approved - Yana - 09-16-2016 I just noticed that new courses (math) have been approved by ACE. Hope it helps someone. Math courses from Shmoop got ACE approved - KayV - 09-16-2016 Here is what ACE says about the credit recommendations for those courses. As of this writing, the courses are still $24.98/ month. If you can finish in one month, that would be less than $1.00 per credit for 29 hours of non-proctored general ed courses. Hard to beat! I wonder if the mathmatics I and II would cover the math requirement at TESU for a BA in liberal studies. Math courses from Shmoop got ACE approved - KayV - 09-16-2016 Yes, they should, since the CLEP College Math counts as MAT-102 and MAT-103. I am working on Mathematics I, just to see what it's like, and have ended up looking at the syllabus and just doing the exams. However, there are a lot of practice problems available to do. Another thing, much like Straighterline, if you score above 70% cumulatively on the course exams, you appear to have all the credit you need to get ACE approval, so you don't necessarily have to make a great grade on the final. Some people like this, while others prefer the Saylor system of simply taking the proctored final when you're ready and having the grade based on that. Math courses from Shmoop got ACE approved - TrailRunr - 09-16-2016 If the waiver is granted and counts in the AOS (LL credits that count are hard to find too), you can easily make up the missing credit with a 4 credit calculus course such as SL Calc I or II via ACE's ACP (I think it's only 3 if you credit directly from SL or if you do ACE under SL as the course provider). Math courses from Shmoop got ACE approved - mickey20 - 09-16-2016 I'm wondering if these math courses from Shmoop duplicate with 4 Aleks math courses at TESU. They are pretty picky about waivers on UL requirements. They refused waiving a 1cr requirement for me (TEEX courses are 2cr). I escalated to the dean, still denied. Mileage my vary, but I would check before assuming they'll waive an UL requirement. |
