So,

I sat down and looked through TESU more critically. I *may* be closer to completion there than my original path through COSC. Maybe not.

Could someone look at my spreadsheet and see if my proposed credits might work where I've stuffed them?

Secondly, if I am correct in my musings, what are recommendations for the remaining credit deficit?

Thanks very much!

Looks like this is just the gen ed requirements and not the AOS?

By the way, you have proposed: "3cr KUOL0001 LRC100 Documenting your Experiences for College Credit"

Unless you already took this prior to 4/30/2016, it won't do you any good to take it now. It is no longer ACE-recommended.

You have the ethics course as "Maybe" meeting requirements. It definitely meets the requirement. The remaining 1CR will be made up in the Gen Ed electives spot.

I wasn't certain about the maybe. I *just* got educated in another thread. I checked ACE, I completed 3/24/16, so I am thinking I got in just under the wire. Is it a valid selection for there?

I don't see how you came up with this plan. It is only for a General AA, not a BA in CJ. For that, most of the CJ courses you have on this plan should be down in the CJ AOS. Not even sure why you would want a CJ course to be up in the Gen Ed area, when you need so many courses in the AOS - it's like throwing away the CJ courses you took.

The best way to figure out the TESU requirements are to apply to TESU and see where they will put your credits. But, I'm thinking just about everything you have should easily work in a CJ degree. I don't think you'll lose a single credit except Beginning Algebra (TESU won't let you use it).

The more difficult thing is that some of the CJ requirements at TESU can't be tested out of - but only maybe 2-3 courses. Between CSU-Global and Propero, I think you can cover almost every requirement.

welll

I went to BA in Criminal Justice at Thomas Edison State University and went down the list entitled I. General Education Requirements.

I then went to Thomas Edison State University | General Education - 2016 or After and looked at what they suggested for each of the lettered sections.

Then I plugged in what I have that looks like it fit. (shrugs)

I don't know what I'm doing.

That is an interesting perspective. You're suggesting going and taking MORE courses to save those for the AOS portion?

I was operating on the ASSumption that I would knock out the GenEd stuff and then see where I was closer, TESU or COSC. Then I'd get the ULC for whichever I was closer to and liked better.

I still would like a Bachelors' in public safety management. That doesn't look reasonably doable now. So, as much as I've been against CJ degrees, looks like that is what I'll be getting.

Man, I hope I don't have to take *anything* at TESU. It's 499 a credit (525 if you are non-matriculated, I am betting that is what I am... I have no degree presently). I know the capstone is mandatory, but I want to get everything else I can get somewhere else less expensive and faster.

Then, I thought I'd waltz in, dump a boatload of credit off, take the capstone, stroke a check and wait on that piece of paper. It appears this is a bad plan.... lol

You always want to look at the entire degree plan, and plug in things where they are most helpful. The AOS requirements are much more difficult to fulfill than the Gen Eds (there are a million options for those), so you always want to plug in anything you can there first. For instance, if you took "Intro to Corrections", you would put that down into fulfilling the Intro to Corrections requirement in the AOS, not in Gen Ed (even if it fulfilled Gen Ed).

Definitely start with the big plan, and work backwards from there.

Thanks for the insight.

Would shmoop US History 1877-Present fulfill TESU's Diversity Intercultural Literacy?

Matriculated means that you've been accepted and enrolled as a degree seeking student. As easy and cheap as the application process is at TESU, there's no reason you would take courses as a non-matriculated student. Also, I don't think that dfrecore meant that you would have to take those courses at TESU, but that you might have to take courses rather than only tests online elsewhere.

I'm in a different AOS, but the AOS is where the expensive courses are. Anytime you can replace an AOS course (especially upper level) with something from GE or any cheap and quick source is almost always a good idea unless you don't mind spending lots of money. I know GE courses stink, but they're cheap, quick, and easy to get. Send the CJ credits to the AOS and redo the GE.

To me, the most interesting part of anyone's degree plan is how they plan to complete the AOS with the absolute minimum in expensive traditional credits like expensive TESU courses.

I second the suggestion to spend the $75 to apply to TESU to get an eval so you know where your CJ credits fit in the AOS. After that, you can matriculate to hold onto your current eval and to hold a catalog. You need to pass an easy and cheap TECEP once every 12 months to remain enrolled without losing your eval and catalog. The TECEP can meet a GE requirement.

No. Here's the list of what will work in each GE area: Thomas Edison State University | General Education - 2016 or After
