It Looks Like I'll Never Get Into the ACE or NCCRS Course Business - sanantone - 09-11-2016 I knew ACE evaluation was expensive from what I found earlier this year, but I thought NCCRS might be somewhat affordable. I might as well start a school and pay for DEAC accreditation. http://www.nationalccrs.org/common/ccrs/files/2016%20Evaluation%20Fees.pdf Fees for CREDIT Course Reviews http://www.deac.org/UploadedDocuments/2016-Handbook/2016-DEAC-Accreditation-Fees.pdf It Looks Like I'll Never Get Into the ACE or NCCRS Course Business - dfrecore - 09-11-2016 Maybe a better bet would be to create a course and then sell it to a provider? Maybe SL would buy it and then give you a piece each time someone took it? Because yeah, $15,000 to become an ACE provider is cost-prohibitive! But this only gets you COSC courses, right? Not sure there are enough people wanting to take these courses to make it worth your while to create a course and pay the fees. It's so limited. I'm not even sure why anyone would get NCCRS-approved, if the fees are similar to ACE, but ACE is much more widely accepted. It Looks Like I'll Never Get Into the ACE or NCCRS Course Business - KayV - 09-11-2016 It's the Connecticut version of New York's NCCRS. It's less well-known, but they are evaluated as college level. For non-COSC students it costs a little bit more because you have to use the COSC credit registry. Here's their credit recommendation list: Credit Recommendations | Charter Oak State College It Looks Like I'll Never Get Into the ACE or NCCRS Course Business - jsd - 09-11-2016 i can't tell if institutions other than COSC that are within CT even recognize CCAP. Seems pretty useless. It Looks Like I'll Never Get Into the ACE or NCCRS Course Business - sanantone - 09-11-2016 I thought I read somewhere that TESU will accept COSC's credit recommendations for certifications and professional training. Quote:The University is a founding member of the Consortium for the Assessment of College Equivalency (CACE) along with Charter Oak State College, the Community College of Vermont, Excelsior College, Granite State College, and SUNY Empire State College. CACE’s mission is to facilitate degree completion of adult learners by developing new pathways of cooperation among adult-centered colleges and universities regarding reviews of college-equivalent learning from organized, structured learning experiences not sponsored by an accredited college or university, including the promotion of rigorous common standards. Through CACE, the University may be able to accept credit recommendations or awards that result from another CACE institution’s review of a training program or professional credential without the requirement of a transcript from the reviewing institution, provided that the review is current or contemporary to the learning and that the University’s curriculum aligns with the credits recommended in the report. For more information, please contact OAPWL’s Director at [email protected]. Students Seeking Credit Oh, wow! This is something else I can pester TESU about. TESU: We don't award credits for that certification. Me: Oh, really. Well, Charter Oak State College does, and there's this little agreement you have. It Looks Like I'll Never Get Into the ACE or NCCRS Course Business - TESUAbroad - 09-12-2016 Interesting, but it makes sense. I think you have to look at this from business perspective, first you invest into the company (get investors, take a loan). Then the next step is to run the business. Over the long term, the company pays back its debts and makes a profit. If it doesn't work out, the company fails and goes bankrupt (Investors lose money, you have to default on your loan). Or third scenario, you are Amazon or Tesla: (Growth is exponential but you still haven't made a profit because you keep investing for further growth). For you in the third scenario this would mean you become the new straighterline or maybe even bigger, but because you keep adding and investing new courses, you haven't really made a profit yet. However, once you slow down adding courses, the money would start flowing in. This is just my personal unprofessional opinion, take it with as many grains of salt as you need

There's always crowdfunding Also, I'm sure if you put together a great business plan, you have an Army of Investors/Collaborators right here who believe in Alternative Credit. Don't let the cost discourage you.

Tier 1, donate $300, get access to 5 courses and 5 proctored exams and the "Major contributer" badge in the forum. Just an idea
