Has anyone taken one of these? I'm curious if the book is exactly the same as the one they charge for? I'm looking into taking Accounting I and II and this would save at least $100 since their ebooks are $82 and $68, respectively, but I'm concerned that the quality of the books aren't the same since they're offering it for only $20 extra. What's the catch??

I believe it is like renting a text book, you only have access while you take the course. I prefer PDF ebooks as they're easier to search for open book tests. Google Library Genesis and you may be able to save a few bucks.

The free ebooks combo for Accounting I & II is packed with enough information to work through and pass the course. There is no catch - this option you are paying $20 more than just paying for the course. If you ned the ebook, this is an excellent option. However, sometimes you are able to find a free resource (friend, you already own a book), Amazon, Ebay (used cheap options). For some there is no need for a book all together and having the option to just buy the course is a greater value.

$20 for the ebook, $69 total course cost for 3 credits is a deal no matter how you look at at.

Thanks! I agree it's a deal. I just couldn't understand why they would give the option to purchase the ebook for $82, when one could get it for only $20 by purchasing the $69 version of the course. I thought perhaps it was an inferior version. Might as well just make the ebook $20.

hilarious That's true, I think of it this way; when buying the course coupled with the ebook, it's a "sale" price for a combo.
If buying it separately, it's going to cost you more for each item within the combo. I like to buy in bulk or at sale prices.
That's just a marketing gimmick they use to get you to go for the combo. Some are just fine with the course itself (already have a book, etc)...

I actually can't even find the standard version of a lot of course (without the ebook) on their site. For example, I can't see ACC150 without the ebook already attached.

I had the opposite problem. For Accounting I and II I have to use their search bar to find the one with the ebook included. At first I thought they stopped offering it.

I had to contact support to get the link to the courses with the eBook included. I used it for three SL courses and it was very much worth the extra $20. The search feature and flipping through pages makes finding information much easier than a physical textbook. I'm not sure if I'll have access to the eBooks after the month is over or not but it's not really a concern as I've gotten my usage out of them.
