Hi Guys I just registered and paid for the information literacy course today. Can I start it now or do I have to Wait till NOv. 5th for the semester to start. Can I download the material now and get it organized then take the test or have to wait to do that too. Thank you! Cindy

I'm assuming you are doing it at EC....If so, you can start it whenever you want. From the posts so far on this forum, it should take about 2-4 hours. If you know how to use the internet and the Dewey Decimal System, you should be good to go. Just print out the material and take the test. I did it in about 3 hours. Remember it is a pass/fail so acing it is not a must, unless itâs a pride thing. Be sure to read the Specific Feedback Section for more inputs and Good Luck! Lee

i took it on the last day of the semester and got an 80% without doing any of the lessons, i wish i would have but i was taking 5 other courses and didnt have time. I googled most things on the test, i dont know if that is allowed or not but they said it was open book. don't sweat it too hard like i did it wasnt that bad.

I wish I knew that it was only a 2 or 3 hour class at EC.
I have been waiting weeks and still have not received my proctored exam from PennFoster. I would have sacrificed the money for the fast 1 unit of credit. Maybe I'll still do it and just duplicate the class. Any thoughts?? I was hoping to meet the 2007 cut off for my degree conferral.

OK, so here's the deal,
I ordered the PennFoster Info Lit class over a month ago. I took the online exams and then sent in the proctor acceptance form that they require.
My proctor has yet to receive the proctored exam and I grew very impatient. Have several unreturned phone calls to Pennfoster office. The guy must be on vacation.
I decided to sign up for the Info Lit class online at Excelsior and am very glad I did. I am upset about paying for 2 classes $75 at PennFoster and then $290 at Excelsior for the same class, but who cares. I am now done with it. Does anyone know how long it takes for the grade to post to my transcript for graduation purposes?
It took me only 61 minutes to complete the entire class, quizzes and exams and I scored 100% on all of the quizzes and then an 84 on the final. You can go back and re-take every quiz as many times as you wish and it gives you the correct answers so you can asnwer correctly the 2nd or 3rd time. I recommend that you do this. There is no need to get less than 100% average on the quizzes unless you just don't care.
The final is weighted 50% of the grade I believe. If that is correct, averaged with the five 100% scores from the quizzes I have an overall score of 92%. Gentlemen (and ladies) I do believe that is what we call an "A."
Yipeeee. Now all I need is 2 units of math/science and I gets me an Associates degree. Nice one. Thanks all for your help, support and advice.
I take the clep on Oct. 10th to meet the final 2 credits. I'll keep ya posted.

Congratulations on getting Info Lit out of the way.
Just a couple of clarifications (for the benefit of those who have yet to take the course). The course is worth one credit and is transcripted as (P) Pass. Also, whilst each module must be passed with a score of 70% or higher in order to move on to the next successive module, they are ungraded self-tests and don't actually make up any part of the final score. The final exam is pass/fail and is worth 100% of your final score. I believe it requires 70% or higher to pass (as with the modules).

It means that this was quite possibly the most expensive ONE credit "P" you will ever have to pay for.
It's kinda like paying taxes: it's painful but you have to do it.
It's over and done with now though!
