Community Wiki cleanup project? - jsd - 07-15-2016 Degree Forum Wiki - Wikia The degree forum wikia is a great source of info that was one of the most helpful resources when I started lurking here a while back. But because it's been around so long, a lot of the information is outdated. If anyone else is interested, I thought it'd be cool to systematically go through it, clean it up and update the info. It says there are currently 96 pages on there, but a few of them are just redirect pages (and some probably don't need any updates at all). If we tackle 5 pages or so a week, it wouldn't take too long to get everything refreshed. I'm not sure if anyone else would be interested, though. Not sure how we would divide it up or how we would approach it. Just thinking out loud a bit. Community Wiki cleanup project? - alzee - 07-15-2016 I'm game to help out, and I suppose I should start with the page I made for the ASBA plan so that it reflects the changes regarding the cornerstone and so on. Community Wiki cleanup project? - jsd - 07-19-2016 Today I updated some of the information on the homepage, as well as cleaned up every page starting with an "A" in the alphabetical listing of pages found at: All pages - Degree Forum Wiki - Wikia I didn't touch your plan, alzee, in case you still wanted to update it. On the other pages (about 12 of them) I mainly did small things like updated mentions of TESC to TESU. I also created an {{OldPlan}} template that gives a warning on older degree plans that the catalog they used is out of date and not to rely on it to create new plans. Perhaps tomorrow I'll attack the B pages. Community Wiki cleanup project? - bjcheung77 - 07-19-2016 That's an awesome job, keep up the good work, newbies to the forum will appreciate the updated info. Community Wiki cleanup project? - jsd - 07-19-2016 And now I've updated every page starting with a B as well. Again, just minor updates and formatting changes. Community Wiki cleanup project? - dfrecore - 07-19-2016 Ok, so I decided to start at the bottom, with Yanji's BSBA degree plan. Unfortunately though, it's old enough that it has completely different requirements (Macroecon, Microecon, Business Comm are up in Gen Ed, Precalc was a requirement, Humanities was separate from SocSci). I'm sure we're going to run into this a lot. I was thinking we could rename all of the degree plans starting with the year, the school, the degree, and the person (i.e. 2013 TESU BSBA - Yanji). That way, they will automatically be sorted, and it should be easy for someone to look at the more recent plans instead of older ones. Any opinions on this? Community Wiki cleanup project? - jsd - 07-19-2016 I like that idea. I've been putting the tag {{OldPlan}} at the top of those pages, which automatically adds a warning about it being out of date... but renaming it with the year would be good to do as well. I'd say start the name of the page off with some other than a number, otherwise those old pages will show up at the top of the "All Pages" link, making the first stuff anyone sees is a bunch of outdated info. Any ideas? Something like "Old Degret Plan - 2013 - TESU - UserX's BSBA General Management" ... but catchier? Retired Degree Plan.... Community Wiki cleanup project? - yb1 - 07-19-2016 Would it be possible to have an archive for any degree plan that is out of date? Community Wiki cleanup project? - jsd - 07-19-2016 As far as I know, there's no real way to archive things on wikia that really separates them from the rest of the pages. The renaming is probably the best approach, unless someone knows better than I do. Community Wiki cleanup project? - dfrecore - 07-20-2016 jsd Wrote:I like that idea. On my own computer, I put old stuff with an X at the beginning, so they go down to the end of the list. X2013 - TESU - BSBA Gen - UserName. This naming format would probably work. I like the username at the end, so that all of the BSBA's are together, then sorted by type before user. The thing I worry about with saying "retired" is that there might be some info that would still be usable, like particular courses/exams in the AOS. But I'm not totally opposed to having a different naming format. |
