Patten Diploma Arrived but am not excited - Saharapost - 07-04-2016

My Patten diploma arrived in the mail today yet, I am not excited because the package sent to me included just the diploma without a transcript and diploma case cover.

I believe this must have been an error. The transcript is perhaps the single most important document and an evidence of classes taken and grades awarded. I will definitely need the transcript for academic (and in certain cases) and employment purposes anywhere in the world as authorities may require to see a student copy of my transcript. Aside this, I also ought to have my copy of the transcript for keeps. Am not sure this is only what Patten sends out to its student upon graduation, but if it is, then this is really not good.

Also important is the padded diploma case which was missing. All accredited US universities (that I know about) enclose diploma and transcripts in the padded diploma case which they (the school) provide(s) - this is why I believe it must have been an error.

Has anyone had similar experience at Patten before? I am attaching copy of my Patten diploma for those who may want to see how it looks.

I had a friend just graduate (not from Patten), from a CA school, she did not get a padded diploma case or a transcript (I was there when the diploma arrived). I didn't know that anyone got those things from a school. Especially a transcript, because so many places want a transcript delivered directly from the school - they don't trust a transcript handed to them from a person. Even 10-20 years ago when I worked in HR, we did our own checking, on ALL degrees, directly from the source (or from a company who did it for them, now they have a database you can order from). If someone handed us their transcript, we would probably have assumed that they forged it. Not kidding.

Did TESU send you a padded diploma and transcript?? And NationsUniversity?

Totally off topic: can I ask why you got a BA in Management from Patten when you already had a BSBA from TESU? Not being critical, just curious since they sound so similar.

Also, can you tell me what you think of ENMU? I was considering going there for my MBA as well, but wanted to get some feedback on it first. Thanks.

Saharapost - Thanks for sharing the diploma. The overall look is pretty cool with the gold touches on the P & U. Based on a recent discussion in the board, interesting to see the BA concentration 'Management - Leadership' on the diploma.

Good luck on getting the case mailed out. I am sure it was a little of a bummer but Patten should be able to handle that really fast.

Congratulations on all 3 degrees!!!

Yes, Excelsior College sends the diploma in a customized padded cover along with a student copy of the transcript.

First congratulations.

I thought they handed out those covers at graduation. I don't think they mail them to you if you don't go to graduation unless you request it. I would, however, expect to receive a transcript when the diploma arrived. I'd call them and tell them you need both and see what they say.

EC does the opposite. Even if you attend the graduation ceremony, the diploma and cover are mailed. It fits in a priority mail envelope. I'm not sure how other colleges handle it, but there is not a time limit to attend the ceremony at EC. One of the graduates that I met at the commencement activities had actually finished his degree 20 years ago and was just getting the chance to attend with his family.

My diploma from my state college did not include a padded diploma case. Matter of fact many of my friends who attended the big state universities here in Florida also did not receive a padded diploma case from their school. They just received the diploma in the mail. Each school operates different in regard to including a folder, some include it, some don't.

TESU sends out a padded diploma case.

Could it be that this is a CA schools thing? TESC sent me 2 padded diploma covers and transcripts for both the Associates and bachelor's. When I re-ordered my diploma after the name change, TESU sent me 2 padded diplomas (Associates and bachelors - even though I paid for one) with no transcript - but I thought it may be because I already have the transcripts. Nations did not include a padded envelop, but they sent me transcript and diploma.
