Hello everyone. Just getting started.
Does anyone have a spreadsheet that shows a degree plan that works for the following circumstances (not in any order):
-Starting from zero credit
-I live about 1/4 mile from a DSST testing community college facility and 1.5 miles from a CLEP testing facility.
-what is the advantage of study.com (i found a thread with coupon for $1k for the year for 2 classes per month)
-looking at BSBA Management or Marketing. Prefer Marketing due to the work I do
-I MAY pursue an online MBA afterward but at a local not so prestigious (something in the TAMU system or on the lower cost spectrum)
-I don't like math so from what I read, I think I will to use Aleks for anything in the math world
-I prefer to minimize writing papers
-I have 20+ years experience but prefer NOT to take the time to do a portfolio; I could be wrong but it seems like testing out is faster versus trying to convince a panel of people your work experience meets some course objectives
-I don't care about paying the TESU $2k fee I just read about
-I am more concerned about the easiest and fastest to get through versus the lowest cost class ( is CLEP, DSST, Study.com faster/easier?)
Also, I am mostly likely going to pursue the Marketing option versus the Management unless I find out the the Mgmt is just that much faster.
I am going to post another question on my Job situation wanting me to get some academic credentials within the next 6 months

I noticed you have 20+ years experience (just like myself, but I'm in IT), I didn't go for the PLA option either as it will take 3 months.
And I also wanted to "re-learn" the materials and complete it for my personal benefit and self fulfillment that I completed a course.

Check out Sanantone's BSBA Marketing After July 2015... the AOS (Area of Study) is the only difference.
Depends on personal preference, you may want to just "have questions in 1 thread" instead of creating several, it's easier to track unless it gets lengthy.

I'm a huge fan of portfolio but I also realize that's the minority view here. In deciding whether or not to do a portfolio, the big question is this: do you like to write? If you don't, then forget it. But if you do, then it's a great way to go. A single portfolio can be compiled in one weekend. I've earned 18 credits that way (six courses) and have never had a portfolio rejected or sent back for revisions/corrections.
The course objectives that TESU gives are extremely clear, and it's not a panel of people who evaluate it, it's one professor. See my signature line where I posted a link describing how to use the parts of the course description as writing prompts for the narrative, as well as other tips for successful portfolio completion. At the end of the thread I uploaded one of my narratives so people could see a real life example.

study.com using the coupon for the 1 year program is going to be slower, as you're limited to 2 classes per month. If I were you, I would do a combination of CLEP, DSST, & SL courses, in addition to the free/cheap stuff (TEEX, ALEKS, Saylor, etc.).
I do have to say that another way to get done quickly is to take the unproctored finals for all of the Saylor courses, and if you do decently on any of those, go ahead and just take the proctored final for $25 each. Much cheaper than CLEP/DSST, and cheaper too. If you find that you need additional study time before you can test out, at least you'll know, and you'll only have wasted $25 if you fail and exam. I wouldn't necessarily recommend that to everyone, but for some people it's a good option.
Some TECEP's may also be a good idea.
The Beginner's Guide is very helpful, as well as Sanantone's list of courses that you can use for the degree. For the Area of Study for Marketing, you may need additional info, when you get to that point, just come back and ask.
