Honors Change for EC students - mjno - 09-26-2007 For those who are not aware (and care). There is a new policy regarding honors. Beginning with the January 2008 degree conferral a student must have 60 graded credits to be eligible for honors. Prior to that you needed 30 graded credits. The above statement came from my advisor. I was told the change has to do with requirements for some new financial aid programs Excelsior wants to be involved with. I personally have a decent shot at getting it on my diploma wanted to let others (who maybe concerned) know of the change. Mike Honors Change for EC students - barcotta - 09-27-2007 Thanks for the info. I didn't care when I started but I care now. I just counted and I have enough--but that might get tight for some CLEP-heavy folks. If any current or future EC students are reading this and you want an honors-eligible GPA, you may want to check for DSST exams, which are awarded letter grades by EC (at least now they are), before CLEP when putting together your degree plan. I'm not sure where I stand on that, but I'll definitely have to check ASAP. Thanks for the info. Honors Change for EC students - jec959 - 09-28-2007 Do you know what the gpa cutoffs for honors is? I didn't see anything on the EC website, and since I don't have a 4.0 I was wondering. Honors Change for EC students - joel66 - 09-28-2007 jec959 Wrote:Do you know what the gpa cutoffs for honors is? Under the handbook in page 18 shows the following: Baccalaureate Degrees (Latin Honors) 3.50 Cum Laude 3.75 Magna Cum Laude 3.90 Summa Cum Laude Associate Degrees 3.50 Honors 3.75 High Honors 3.90 Highest Honors Honors Change for EC students - jec959 - 09-28-2007 Thanks, I got some B's over the years so I have a 3.77 right now on my transfer in's guess so I guess that gives me magna cum laude if I can keep the the A's coming in maybe i can push it up some. Gives me something to work for I guess. Honors Change for EC students - Matymus - 09-28-2007 I've only got 39 graded credits, and unless I get my degree conferred this year...I'm screwed. I only have a few classes/exams left so I need to hurry. Uggh. I'm so mad. Honors Change for EC students - barcotta - 09-28-2007 Looks like you have five to go. If you average just under 2 per month--you should be good. You should find out the absolute deadline for completing coursework (as opposed to actual conferral--and if it has to be conferred then it might be REAL tight and you'll have to get the deadline for coursework for 2007 conferral) to see if you can come up with a schedule and then GO FOR IT! Honors Change for EC students - Katterina - 09-28-2007 I just talked to the Liberal Arts department today. I was told that conferral date was based on the day you take your last exam. Mine was yesterday and they quoted me a December 21 conferral. I'm not sure what the deadline is, but I would call and ask. This is very sudden information, maybe they can work something out. Fingers are crossed for ya, Matymus, good luck. Honors Change for EC students - Matymus - 09-28-2007 Katterina Wrote:I just talked to the Liberal Arts department today.
