May 12th my 1 year Duolingo anniversary! Some of you may remember that May 12, 2015 I decided to sign up for the free Duolingo online program and see if I could learn enough French from scratch to CLEP test out of the course. Thanks for the share. With a background from 20+ years ago, I started Duolingo in Spanish. It wasn't working for me. My library system has free access to Mango, so I might give that a try if I want to go back to learning a language.
Duolingo might be better for someone who wants to use it to be polite on a trip. Please. Thank-you. Where is the bathroom? Do you speak English? Thank God!
While I didn't go far enough in Duolingo to see if it would help with a CLEP, I suspect if you can't do it that it can't be done.

Thanks for sharing the diary. For the two foreign languages I've picked up, I decided not to do the CLEP or online method. I went traditional butt-in-seat even though I prefer online and testing out a lot more for other courses. I researched the heck out of the professors (4.5 or higher on ratemyprofessor) before I committed to each language. I had to wait several years for one of the professors because the class wouldn't work with my schedule. After 9 months, I had a decent command of the language and 10 credits.
