Proctor U and loose-leaf textbooks? - adavis84 - 04-22-2016

I was curious if anyone's ever used an official loose-leaf version of a text book when taking a test through ProctorU? I'm working out of one right now for a course at TESU as I was able to get it silly cheap. Just wondering if I should pony-up for the e-book or maybe rent/buy the bound version for the open book midterm/final.

I would say it depends on what you need to score on the straighterline final. If you only need to get a 0-50% i wouldnt bother.

They definitely won't let you use an eBook. You could ask about the loose leaf. I'm not sure who, though.

Oh, this is good to know. I didn't see anything in the syllabus saying I couldn't. Do you have a link to the policy, or was it from personal experience? Looks like I have other books to buy now, too...

I was told by TESU's testing center for the class I'm in now that I can use an ebook for the open book final, but the book has to be on my computer that I'm taking the test with, not a tablet or eReader. They want to make sure I'm looking at the book and not something else.

Excellent to hear! I totally understand not allowing another device. I would have never expected to be able to do that.

If you wanted to ask about loose leaf, I got the answer about digital books by emailing testing@tesc.edu

They must have changed their policy. It used to be spelled out quite clearly that you had to have a physical textbook, but I can't find it anywhere now. I prefer eBooks in general and it annoyed me greatly to be forced to buy real ones.
