I only need 3 History Credits.

In your opinion, which exam was the easiest or the easiest to study?

PS I am taking A/I Lit and Am. Gov't CLEP exams, this coming Saturday. I LOVE this site!

What's easy to one person isn't universal. Really, what is easier depends to a large extent on what you're interested in. If you like recent history, the second exam will be easier. If you are totally into how things got started, the first exam will be easier. Some people are convinced that the first exam is easier. Others are convinced that the second exam is easier. What I'm convinced of is that personal whims, preferences, and interests matter.

The REA books for both exams are pretty good. One of those books is shorter than the other, if you are interested in that kind of analysis.
