Transcripts for UEXCEL exam results - Leedeedee - 02-21-2016

I just signed into Excelsior to order a transcript to send out to TESU for my 5 UEXCEL exams. It says that I'm not eligible to use the online transcript request. Do I just need to call them about this. Has anyone had any problems getting this transcript from Excelsior?

Are you requesting a student transcript or exam transcript. Excelsior keeps changing how they do transcripts for Uexcel. It looks like currently they are back to using exam transcripts. When you log in select the my details tab and then under exams their should be a link for exam transcript. If that doesn't work then try requesting a transcript using the link on the right. If that still doesn't work you might have to contact Excelsior.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but does the exam transcript look different from the student transcript? I ask this because people keep saying that Uexcels are resident credits at Excelsior.

I only requested a student transcript once, because Excelsior made me but I had it sent to TESU so I never saw it. My exams are listed with date taken, exam code, exam title, hours awarded, exam grade. When I transfer them to TESU they still show up with an X. I'm registered with Excelsior as a nonmatriculated student so it may be different for degree seeking students.

At Excelsior the X is part of the course number for all exams. It indicates examination credit. They're still considered resident credit by the school (they count toward residency requirements for the purposes of special tuition plans, etc.). On my student evals, they separated courses taken at Excelsior (under the heading Excelsior College) and exams (under the heading UExcel Examinations) but both counted toward my residency requirement for their military tuition plan. Excelsior also considers exams to be part of your "rate of pursuit" when determining full time / part time status, and they certify them as part of your enrollment if you're using the GI Bill.

My understanding is that if you are now or have ever been a degree-seeking student at excelsior, or if you took courses there, then you're supposed to request a college transcript. If you only took exams and were never enrolled in a degree plan, then you request an exam transcript instead.

Thanks for the responses. I'm assuming the Uexcels still don't count toward the Excelsior Course Option. The notes on the tuition page say Excelsior course credits over and over again.

Edit: I think I found my answer. There is a 2015-2016 document that says that you need 12 credits from Excelsior online courses.

Looks like you're right - they used to have a different excelsior options where you needed more excelsior credits than you do now (I think it was 24) but exams counted toward that number. Now their Excelsior course option requires fewer credits in residence, but they have to be online courses. I enrolled in 2013 or 2014, so it's a fairly recent change.
