Which school/program is best for me - jakesix19 - 12-11-2015 I need to figure out how to best get a bachelors degree asap for my job. It is a recent requirement. I'm currently looking at the BSBA in CIS at TESC, because of the testing out options it has, but I don't know if that degree will take advantage of my current AAS degree and credits. What is going to be the fastest bachelors I can get with transferring my current credits and test taking? Only 6cr of LL will count towards your CIS Area of Study, leaving you 4 UL courses to take. The rest will count towards Free Electives, and there are only 6 allowed in that area. The other option is a BSAST in IT, but that's not as easy to test out of. Other people will know more about COSC and EC. I think your best bet is to apply at all 3 schools and then see where you stand with each. I know it's not cheap, but I think it's the best way to know what they're going to count your courses as, and what you'll need to do at each school to meet your requirements. Once you get all your evals back, you can then compare to see where your best option is going to be. I'm not sure how it works at EC and COSC, but at TESC, you can see what happens when you change your degree (from a BSBA CIS to BSBA Gen Mgmt to BSAST IT). Which school/program is best for me - jakesix19 - 12-11-2015 Thanks, that's not a bad idea. I'm trying to read through all the information on the forum, but its a lot. I wish one of the big 3 would be able to use my Associates as %50 of a Bachelors somehow. I'm also looking at the COSC Bachelor of Science General Studies with a Information Systems Studies concentration, but I'm having a hard time putting together an outline of all the requirements and then trying to figure out what my credits might count for. Which school/program is best for me - dfrecore - 12-11-2015 I think the TESC BSAST in Technical Studies will utilize the most credits!! This is like the generic version of the BSAST-IT, where there are fewer specific requirements - Project Management and the Capstone (Current Trends & Applications) are it, then the remaining 39 units can be in anything. Yes, there are some UL courses you'll need (the easiest to get seem to be MIS & Cybersecurity DSST's, Network Tech TECEP, and Cloud Computing CSU-Global). PM me and I will send you a spreadsheet of what I figured out. BTW - my husband is debating between this and the BSBA CIS degree, so I've been looking at both of those for a while. The BSAST is more expensive because of the capstone, but far fewer courses needed. You can also see what is needed for both degrees, and work on getting those 11 courses done first, and then see how you feel at that point. Which school/program is best for me - Life Long Learning - 12-11-2015 I agree that you should apply to all three. $275 to do so, but talk is cheap and the three are different. I am doing that right now and in the long-run will save money. So far TESC is not going well. Time will tell. dfrecore Wrote:I think your best bet is to apply at all 3 schools and then see where you stand with each. Which school/program is best for me - soliloquy - 12-12-2015 Do you happen to have any certifications? Which school/program is best for me - jakesix19 - 12-12-2015 The only certifications have is a Citrix Certified administrator and Epic client systems manager... Nothing from microsoft or Cisco. Thank you for all your suggestions. TESC BSAST in Technical Studies looks very promising for transferring my credits. Which school/program is best for me - sanantone - 12-13-2015 TESC's BSAST degrees only require 12 UL credits. Six of those credits are already covered by two required courses: current trends and applications and project management. All of your community college credits will be lower level at all of the Big 3. TESC's BSAST degrees probably require the least amount of upper level credits out of all of the Big 3 programs. |
