TECEP Eng II or Straightline - PF Advanced Comp is not working out for me - heidi08 - 07-20-2015
I am having a difficult time with PF Advanced Composition and not getting very much help with the instructor. I have done PF Technical Writing and enjoyed this course with a final grade of 90. I am an international student and CLEP is out of the way. I need to complete this course by the end of August (with results) for TESC to send to my state board for the CPA exam. Which would be easier to do? Any feedback would be much appreciated.
1) TECEP - how to approach this exam
2) SL - how fast can I complete this and how many writing assignments, exams etc.

I am usually pretty big on Straighterline, however I took this TECEP and it went well. I got the results in about 2 weeks.
As for the test, it wants you to write a "research essay" on one of two subjects, I say "research essay because no research is involved. Your first assignment will to be to write sort of an abstract complete with a thesis and supporting arguments, you will then write a short essay on the thesis statement you picked.
next, they will give you several summaries of citations that you will have to hand put in MLA/APA format ( I suggest having the handbook that they allow you to use on the test.
they summaries will look something like the following
Sally Ghram wrote a book titled "My Life" that was published by XYZ corp on June 19, 2005
ones I got went a little bit more in depth but you should get the idea.
Lastly, they gave me a paragraph that was suppose to have 10 errors that you have to correct, there is more than one way to correct the errors. When I did mine it felt like there were 200 errors and I pretty much just rewrote the entire paragraph
