TESC BSBA Help - Banker214 - 04-18-2015 With all of the help from the contributors of this forum and the Wiki, I have been able to knock out 66 Credits in 10 months. With 54 to go and CLEPs/DSST options getting slim, I find myself in research overload. I am enrolled in the per-credit tuition plan at TESC but still need to knock out 8 TECEPs for residency requirements. I am attaching my plan and the items in grey are complete with the ones in white still needing to be completed. I am looking for any suggestions anyone may have on ways to accelerate the process. I have been in banking for 15 years and with being stuck in middle management because of the lack of a bachelors so I am kicking myself for not starting this process sooner. That being said, my goal is still to finish by the end of this year which means I need to kick it into overdrive in order to be eligible for advancements opportunities in January 2016. I have to admit the TECEPs concern me with the lack of handy study materials so I am considering all options including going with the enrolled options plan if it means getting it done this year. Any suggestions on avenues I may have missed will be greatly appreciated. The Wiki has been a big help and it's where I learned about ALEKs, Kaplan, and TEEX. Thanks, Mark TESC BSBA Help - mednat - 04-18-2015 My approach to the TECEPs has been to find the easiest ones and consider them just the cost of tuition in my head, instead of trying to force them into my plan. Some of the easy ones fit nicely into my plan (PR, Advertising, Marketing Comm, Sales Mgmt), but many I just choose to check that box on my degree. If you're looking for the check the box kind of TECEPs, these you should be able to do without issue: Technical Writing - Know how to write a business email, business letter and understand when to use bar charts, pie charts, etc. You probably already know all this based on your job description. Computer Applications - If you have basic computer literacy, this is no problem to pass. Liberal Arts Math - I haven't taken this yet, but it looks like simple math. These have a reputation for being simple, and are multiple choice, but I haven't taken them: Marriage and Family Psychology of Women Science of Nutrition The comments below list your options. If you're comfortable with a subject, take the TECEP. If not, I'd swap it for one of the easy ones I listed and use the alternative listed below. I like options that don't require me to schedule trips to testing centers, so I tend to recommend Straighterline, Saylor, etc. I found I was able to tackle more credits in this way because I could literally schedule my final proctored exam whenever I want (I pay the fee to take it now, almost every time). Business Law - Straighterline or Saylor have options for these. Business Ethics @ Straighterline can go in the Business In Society Slot. I'm not sure how hard this TECEP is. Strategic Management & Principles of Finance - Can be done at Penn Foster. Many say this is easier, however given your background the Finance DSST shouldn't be any issue. Accounting - Straighterline has an option for both accounting courses. Congrats on the progress and good luck! Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions I can help with. |
