Can I get financial aid if I'm doing the PPC plan with TESC? - Sola5girl - 02-04-2015

Hi, I am pursuing a liberal arts degree from TESC and am almost there! (Yipeee!!) I'm looking into the PPC plan which seems like it would be cheaper. I was planning on completely testing out of (almost) everything BUT when I heard of the PPC plan I'm thinking about doing the 7 TECEPs from TESC plus the capstone to equal the residency requirement.

My question is, since I'm taking the TECEPs, does that qualify me for financial aid through the college?? I know that if I was doing the enrolled options plan, I wouldn't qualify because I'm not taking enough credits from them.

Or at least those are my speculations. I could have overlooked something...

Thanks in advance for any help.

Only online and guided study courses count for financial aid purposes. You will need to take at least 6 credits per 6 months in actual courses to be considered half-time. TECEPs, portfolio assessments, and e-Packs do not count.

Yep ^^

I was planing on testing out of most everything, until I got the Pell Grant. Then, since I wasn't in a hurry to graduate and I had that money available, I took more classes than I'd planned at TESC. It was nice as I enjoyed both the content and the experience of taking the classes.

Isn't it 6 credits per 3 months? A semester at TESC is 12 weeks.

Since TESC does not follow a traditional school year, a student's semester ends 6 months from when he or she enrolls. A better way to look at this is that you need to complete 24 credits in a traditional school year or in 12 months. In a 12-month period, TESC will have four terms.

If you are a NJ resident and you qualify for TAG, you can take 12 credits of either GS, online, TECEP's, PLA, or E-pack and receive the TAG Grant. It would not work for Pell though which requires GS or online courses.
