Possible in general or possible for you? There are people who have been successful spending a few days per exam studying for the exams you mentioned. Everybody is different.

The answer is yes.... and no. You said history. I studied for American History 1 and 2 for probably 3 days each and passed both, but I have a deep background in other history courses, I just didn't do American 1 or 2. American Governement is a tough one. I was going to shoot for 5 days of study, and ended up switching the exam to a different exam (Social Science and History) only 2 days before I went to take it and did fine on it. I was not going to pass American Government though. Humanities would be tough, for almost anyone. If you read through the forums on here, many people with a deep background of humanities make the mistake of being underprepared for that one. I don't want to scare you off of it, but I would not try it in only 3 or 4 days. US history 1 or 2, if you are a history buff or just find it interesting, go for it. FYI if you feel ready for US History 1 and 2 take them and within 2 weeks, no later that than take Social Sciences and History. It gives you 6 hours of credit and my version felt like 85% US history.

I am not a history buff by any means. I am just reading the content from REA right now for US History 1. I plan on doing a bunch of practice.
Could you expand upon why American Government is so tough? I really need that credit..
In general, what questions most closely resemble the ones on the actual test? Rea, Collegeboard CLEP Practice Exams, Peterson, InstantCert, etc. I want to make strong use of my study time.

I second the SOS101/102 Social Science & History CLEP. Also for much easier humanities credit, I recommend LIT-291/292 Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP exam. It is 200 level credit but basically a reading comprehension exam. Take a look at the IC flashcards and specific exam feedback section for further insight. A few added resources:

If you "study the the subject", that's probably not feasible. If you "study to pass the test", I think most CLEPs can be studied for in that time. I didn't spend more than a couple of hours preparing for any of the CLEPs I took, and I wouldn't exactly consider myself an expert in any of the subjects.

American Government wasn't difficult for me. Of course, I'm a political junky, LOVE American history, and live right outside Washington, D.C. I barely studied for the exam, and I passed it. (Sorry, I don't remember any of the questions.) It's difficult for me to say, "this test/course is easy" or "this test/course is hard" for YOU. After reading others opine on Penn Foster courses, I feel like the village idiot because I've found them difficult. This is where InstaCert is very helpful You get the flashcards, you get the opinions of folks ABOUT the flashcards, and you get MUCH more detailed feedback on the exams.

If you're reasonably familiar with those topics, and you don't have lots of other things going on right now, studying for the tests in a short timeframe and passing is totally doable.
