Hello,

What's the simplest way to satisfy the General Physics I and II with lab. I had intended to do it through Straighterline but they no longer offer the second course. I've also read that the Straighterline course is quite difficult.

Any Ideas? Thanks.

For which school?

It's TESC. I'm doing a BSAST in Aviation Flight Technology.

You can test out of the lecture portion of Physics I and II with the Uexcel. TESC offers standalone labs for Physics I and II. It sounds expensive compared to taking the Straighterline courses, but some of your other options could be over $700 per course.

I am pursuing a BSAST as well and require a Physics course with lab. Personally I love Straighterline; however, since the lab kit cost so much I just ended up taking it at my local community college. It was actually cheaper than doing straighterline if you consider the cost of the lab kit. If you don't want to pursue it at a local community college consider the Uexcel test and the stand alone lab like Sanatone suggested. Either way since TESC requires a lab it isn't the easiest class to complete the requirement in a fast way. Good Luck!

Okay, I'd suggest your local community college. It's going to be the most straightforward and you're guaranteed transfer. Probably the cheapest as well. I don't know if you're using financial aid at TESC, but if you are, anything you do for physics will be out of pocket, so you might want to be careful with costs, online science labs can be very expensive. Good luck and my hat off to you. Physics did me in lol.

Thanks for the replies.

I think I'll give Straighterline a shot for the first class and look into UExcel and a TESC Lab for the second.

If you take the UExcell + TESC Lab + SL you'll end up duplicating a lot of work. The UExcel covers six credits of physics 1 and 2, so all you need is two credits of labs, which TESC provides. Taking SL physics 1 would duplicate half of the UExcel and you'd basically be doing the entire 4-credit course for just the 1-credit lab. In terms of cost and time, the TESC lab course for physics 1 is much better.

Actually, after doing SL physics 1 and 2 (before they pulled physics 2), I would join cookderosa in recommending a community college. That would be the simplest, although the lab kits will probably cost through the roof. If you can pass the UExcel, though, you've got it made--all you need is two credits of lab work. That's the high risk-high reward option. If I were doing it all over again, I probably would gamble on the UExcel and then kick myself for not doing a community college after I would fail it.

Thanks for catching that. I should have googled what UExcel was, I thought it was a course. I wouldn't pass a test right now.

I'll try Straighterline for the first one since it's cheap and I'm already a monthly member. Community College won't work due to my work schedule. I'll have a look at the TESC course for the second one and just spend the money on that.

Which tuition plan are you on?
