I might need an additional ethics credit, if TESC does not accept my Saylor's Corporate Communication class. I emailed my advisor and she said "While Saylor courses can be a good way to learn new material, they are not credit bearing. In order to receive credit for a Saylor course, you would need to identify an assessment method such as a challenge exam (CLEP, DSST or TECEP) or Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) to establish credit earned. I am not aware of any challenge exams for MAN-373. To learn more about Prior Learning Assessment at Thomas Edison College you may wish to go to Thomas Edison State College: Prior Learning Assessment. I can note, however, that MAN-373, could potentially apply to your Area of Study". I have replied back to her in regards of NCCRS accredation for that course. She has yet replied.

Anyway, I want to get a second option in place. Which of the following would you recommend using Instant Cert as my mode of study? Which of these two is easier to study and retain the info? DSST's Business Ethics and Society or Ethics in America.

Thanks,

What does Corporate Communication have to do with ethics? It is my understanding that it is either humanities or intellectual and practical skills. If you passed the proctored exam, then TESC will accept it since it's NCCRS-approved. However, I doubt you will get ethics credit for it.

Currently my straighterline's ethics course satisfies my major's core and the upper requirement. Under the Responsibility part for General Educations Requirement, I need an ethic course. I have two options: 1) take another ethic course to meet the general ed; or 2) transfer the straighterline ethics under General Ed, and find another applicable course to satisfy the core, which must also be an upper class. so I asked my advisor if Saylor's Managerial communications will satisfy my core and upper requirement if I were to take the course so I can move the ethic's under General Ed.

If they count it as humanities, then it should be an UL course in your area of study. Someone else will probably be able to recommend which test to take. I haven't taken Ethics in America yet. However, you will have to make sure that neither one of them duplicate the Business Ethics course.

This sounds so like the reply I got. I emailed them back, pointing out that the NCCRS-recommended Saylor courses were applied to their ASBA Open Course option which means TESC accepted them, and requested for clarification on the matter. Turns out, it was the advisor's mistake and so, yes, TESC accepts those Saylor courses. Smile

There is the new Environmental Ethics TECEP (ETH-210-TE) which Saylor has a course for (ENVS 203) but with it being new i'm not sure what it will fall under.
I have this on my to do list in the future, and i'm hoping it will count, it looks more interesting than other ethics courses.

The Environmental Ethics TECEP does count for the ethics requirement. I've already got it on my degree plan. Smile
