PennFoster Intro to Java - rahill39 - 08-16-2014 Has anyone taken this Penn-Foster class? They are good in the ACE guide but have not confirmed with COSC yet. CSC215 Programming in Java Also looking for an upper level System Analysis & Design course if anyone has recommendations..thx. Working on completing COSC Information Systems. PennFoster Intro to Java - lavagirl - 08-16-2014 Those both courses are not ACE approved. I doubt that you can get college credits for them. ACE CREDIT | The National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training PennFoster Intro to Java - sanantone - 08-16-2014 The current ACE-approved courses (the last time I checked) that involve programming are Intro to Programming, Intro to Computer Programming, and Visual Basic. PennFoster Intro to Java - rahill39 - 08-16-2014 That was the one I was originally looking at (CSC105). Not sure how I ended up on the Java... Has anyone taken CSC105? PennFoster Intro to Java - lavagirl - 08-16-2014 My friend is taking it (CSC 105) right now. He says that it is easy ( though he is already good programmer himself), non proctored, require you to install Visio and submit some projects, not actually teaching you to program, more like to write pseudo code . They will send you a textbook for this course. PennFoster Intro to Java - rahill39 - 08-17-2014 Thanks Lavagirl. I have about 10 years in IT as a DBA and Unix Admin so hopefully will get through it quickly. Just wanting to satisfy the Logic requirement for the COSC Information Systems. Now just need to find a System Analysis & Design course. I expect a Computer Architecture course might work? PennFoster Intro to Java - lavagirl - 08-17-2014 You are welcome, rahill39! I think that with your experience in IT CSC105 will be a breeze. Your best bet for System Analysis and design will be self paced non proctored Adams state college course BUS425,( around $600). Chadron college also has this course,( around 600$), but it is not self paced. Use Chadron or Adams if you need upper credits. If lower credits are fine for your situation - then KCTCS community college Introduction to database design course will do. Best luck to you!
