My BSBA in General Management: Starting the journey - smallz - 07-24-2014 Hello everyone, I am new here to IC and Degree Forum. After playing back and forth with the idea of completing my degree via TESC for about a year and finally decided to go for it after getting an itch again and finding this forum. For the past five days I have been looking through DegreeForum nonstop and getting all the information I can about testing, Big 3, IC , degree templates, etc. After grabbing all the pieces I could I created my degree plan for BSBA in General Management from TESC. I have yet to discuss this with a counselor but I am pretty confident I completed it correctly. Feel free to leave any advice as it is all appreciated. Thanks again for all who participate on this forum and in advance because I'm sure I will have a ton of questions and will be in need of your guidance along the way. Have a great day. In the past, Here's to Your Health has not been counted as a general education elective. I think it's always a free elective except for maybe the health concentration in the BSAST in Technical studies. For the computer requirement, DSST Intro to Computing is easier. It duplicates CLEP Information Systems and Applications, so you can't use both. You didn't include the business electives. For those, you can use TEEX (6 credits for free). For free electives, you can earn 3 free credits from NFA. You can also earn 3 free credits from Kaplan's open PLA course, but I don't know if they will give you a hard time about sending the course to ACE if you don't complete a PLA with them. ALEKS is a cheaper option for statistics and college algebra. If you include 8 TECEPs in your plan, you will meet the residency requirements for the Per Credit Tuition Plan and avoid the $3,154 enrollment fee under the Enrolled Options Plan. So I advise replacing some of the DSSTs and CLEPs with TECEPs. Sanantone's BSBA General Management - Degree Forum Wiki Sanantone's General Education Options - Degree Forum Wiki My BSBA in General Management: Starting the journey - bricabrac - 07-24-2014 My advice, use 8 TECEP exams to meet TESCs 24 cr residency requirement to take advantage of cheaper tuition rate (Pay Per Credit Tuition). Exam recommendations are highlighted below. I gathered from your degree plan you are not concerned with a GPA? Pay Per Credit Tuition: Refer to this post http://www.degreeforum.net/general-e...tml#post171325 And the original thread http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior...tml#post168378 Quote:TESC BSBA in General Management (120) ALTERNATE TECEP exam recommendations: Applied Liberal Arts Mathematics (MAT-105-TE) (free elective?) Sales Management (MAR-322-TE) (replace MIS DSST) My BSBA in General Management: Starting the journey - smallz - 07-24-2014 Oops i have added my business electives: Principles of Supervision, Intro to Business, Business Law II. I will look into TEEX also and thanks for the TECEP heads up i will fit 8 in. My BSBA in General Management: Starting the journey - smallz - 07-24-2014 Thank you for your recommendations. The GPA is calculated with classes taken at TESC correct? Is that calculated by my TECEP's? My BSBA in General Management: Starting the journey - sanantone - 07-24-2014 The TECEPs are pass/fail. The only way to get a GPA at TESC is to take one of their online or guided study courses. Are you planning on going to graduate school? In that case, you won't exactly need a TESC GPA, but you will at least need some graded credits from another school for most graduate programs. TESC does not transfer grades for transfer courses, but the graduate school will calculate a GPA based on transcripts from all colleges attended. My BSBA in General Management: Starting the journey - KayV - 07-24-2014 I have no direct experience with Strategic Management, but several people on the forum have said that Strategic Management from Penn Foster is much more manageable than the TECEP. YMMV, of course. YMMV, of course. Oops good catch, forgot to add that, it's one of the reasons I noted the alternates. Smallz, I took the TECEP and given feedback from others the Penn Foster Strategic Business Management course is much, much easier. If you choose PF, then simply substitute Liberal Arts Math (HS algebra) or Sales Management (blends marketing and management) for one of the other exams. If you are interested in a GPA, which I recommend although some here would disagree, you would take one course and 7 TECEPs. It still costs less than the enrolled tuition plan. My course recommendations are below. All would be considered the best route to an A/A- grade by TESC standards, I've listed in order of preference/ease. SOS-110 Living in the Information Age (I really enjoyed this course! Excellent reintroduction for the adult back to college. No exams - midterm and final are written assignments. Skills Tutor assignments were fun and I just banged them out within the first two weeks of the course.) MAT-105 Applied Liberal Arts Mathematics (Super easy math course! It's HS Algebra. Both proctored midterm and final were open book.) MAN-373 Managerial Communications (Highly recommended by all that have taken the course. Proctored midterm, final project.)
