Best Study Aids for ECE/UExcel Psych Adulthood & Aging? - SuZQ2 - 05-16-2014 Hi All, For anyone who has recently taken the ECE/UExcel Psychology of Adulthood and Aging... I'm just beginning my study plan for the above mentioned exam and would like to know what study aids (in addition to the InstantCert flashcards) you found most helpful - I purchased the recommended textbook (Cavanaugh's Adult Development and Aging 6th ed), but in looking over the Study Guide outline do not see some of the key terms mentioned in the text. I did not yet purchase the recommended Cox text on aging, and am wondering if it's necessary? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. A shortfall of even the most recent edition of Cox is absurdly dated statistics. Best Study Aids for ECE/UExcel Psych Adulthood & Aging? - SuZQ2 - 05-17-2014 Jonathan Whatley Wrote:Cox is helpful. Thanks so much - I'll purchase a copy of Cox...I began looking over the first section of the EC Study guide and could not find some of the terms listed in the corresponding chapter (models of aging - mechanistic/organismic etc.) - not to mention that the text itself seems extremely "dry". Big difference from Social Psych - that text was written in a lighter but "study-friendly" style. I'm assuming the InstantCert flashcards are worth purchasing, along with the practice exams... Again, many thanks for the help! Best Study Aids for ECE/UExcel Psych Adulthood & Aging? - SuZQ2 - 05-17-2014 georgenelson Wrote:I dono about Cox. What is it meant? Not sure what's you're asking, but the EC Study Guide for the Psychology of Adulthood and Aging exam recommends purchasing these texts: Adult Development and Aging (6th edition) by Cavanaugh, and Aging (Annual Editions) by Cox. As I mentioned, in my opinion the Cavanaugh text is just horrible - endless concepts with endless stages/parts/statistics - two days into studying and I'm feeling quite overwhelmed... Best Study Aids for ECE/UExcel Psych Adulthood & Aging? - GoodYellowDogs - 05-21-2014 Use the different sections from InstantCert flashcards - then read the same part of the text. Do it section by section, much easier to eat the elephant in small bites |
