Being Bombarded by Ads from CSU Online Plus and APUS - sanantone - 04-25-2014

At least half of the commercials I see on YouTube are from Colorado State University Online Plus. APUS has banner ads on most of the videos I watch. They must be on a marketing blitz. Yes, I need to download an ad blocker.

Here in Slovakia, on most of the videos I watch and web pages I visit, Excelsior chases me with banner ads like I am the only person lagging behind in admission.I don't get banner ads from APUS or TESC. I guess it depends on what website one visits and whether they left some cookies on one's browser...

I rarely go to the CSU and APUS websites. I'm mostly on the Big 3 and WGU websites. I think their ads are targeting anyone who has been visiting any college's website. Penn Foster and Bellevue seemed to follow me everywhere a few months ago.

I clicked on a StraighterLine ad a while back and now I see them all over the place. I'm sure that clicking on that one ad set a cookie.

I'm also seeing a ton of TV commercials for Heald College --- "Get In. Get Out. Get Ahead." They're actually pretty good commercials as far as marketing goes. Too bad most of the people sucked in by these commercials don't realize there are better options available to them.

I've only seen ads for sites I've clicked on. I haven't seen any CSU. I've seen a lot of Chapel Hill, WCU, WGU - all universities I've clicked on.

Yes, try clearing your cookies to see if you can start fresh on the ads. It can make extra steps for logging-in to accounts, though.

I wish the Excelsior College ads had a checkbox for alumni. "No, I don't need to transfer any credits right now; I'm already a graduate - twice!! :hurray: Yes, I'll tell my friends, too." Cool

I would always see ads for Excelsior College when I was using the Excelsior website multiple times a day, but now that I have looked at APUS a bunch and have become an APU student all I seem to see are APUS ads now. Smile

I feel your pain. In my thesis research, I had to visit the websites of every college in the country....guess whose on every college in the country's "list?" PITA

It wouldn't matter because they'll just show me a different commercial. I tried to deal because I know YouTube offers free content and has to make money somehow, but the number of commercials are becoming a bit excessive, imo.

Goodness! You couldn't have just taken a sample?

LOL, no I created a census, but the NEXT person can! It's not terrible.....just lots and lots and lots of education ads on every banner.
